Here are two shots from my humble photo collection. They are original Gloster press releases of many years ago.
I have set widt at 1750 pixels to give more details.
Especially the use of the double saddle tanks under the fuselage is very interesting!

Tamiya Buffalo kit was excellent! Assume you are going to build U.S. Navy version rather than Dutch MK-KNIL version? Dutch Buffalo had reflex gunsight instead of telescope sight and a 1200 hp engine.

O.K., but at least gunfire from Il-2 will give this quite static shot much more action!!
Hartmann WAS shot down during this incident and I think that must be shown.

Hartmann was shot down over the Russian front and captured by Russian soldiers. He managed to escape and finally reached the German front. It is quite a story; see book written by Toliver and Constable 'Hold Hartmann vom Himmel'. Motorbuch Verlag 1972 (8th printing)

I have one further very intrigueing question: has someone ever seen photographs of the Messerschmitt Me-109H high-altitude version? It was built in small numbers only for operational testing but in general it was regarded as a failure, although it could reacht an altitude of more than 14,500 m!
Images of this rare type would be very welcome!!

Firstt link says is is a G-10; second link it is a G-10/K4 hybrid.
Maybe late Heinz Nowarra was right after all when he stated it was a K-4!!

Combat Warplanes / Me-109 which one????
« on: May 08, 2012, 05:01:42 PM »
This is a much published photo of a Messerschmitt Me-109 captured by US forces and transported to the USA.
Unfortunately it is in various books described as being a Me-109G-6, a Me-109G-14AS and a Me-109K-4.
Can anyone out there shed some light on this?

Nice set! So to see they are all Me-109B's with two-blade variable pitch Schwärzel propeller.

It is possible the MIG-25 was flown during the time Egypt and Syria were the 'United Arab Republic'.
The U.A.R. lasted only for a short period but marking could be correct.....
