Thank you for all your comments, sadly that was my last competition, but at lease I leave the Service knowing that the RAF Photographic trade still has a future in the ever changing RAF.

For the past 6 months I have been working on the annual RAF Photographic Competition, which is made up of 12 categories, of which, 10 are only to RAF Photographers only and the other two to any member of the RAF.  Judging took place in September and the Awards were held on the 16th October at the RAF Club in London, with the Presenting Officer being Sir Steven Dalton, the Chief of the Air Staff.  This was to be my last competition and I'm about to retire from the Service later this year after 37 years in uniform.

I wish to share with you some of the 900+ images that were submitted, which I had to book in!!  . I hope you enjoy them.

I'm looking at getting the Rumpler C.IV (early) mainly because you can have a reconnaissance version.

It works out cheaper if I buy it from the site and get it shipped from New Zealand than if I purchase if here in the UK.

Right, these two Spitfires were used in the film Battle of Britain, the first image is if PS853, a PR XIX and the other one is a Mk IX. Both of course not in service during the battle. The sqn codes they carried were not real.

"So as not to apportion any glory or blame to any particular squadron. Codes not used by actual RAF units involved in the real 1940 Battle were chosen. Spitfires wore AI, CD, DO and EI squadron codes (although aircraft wearing EI codes did not feature in the finished film), with the replica Spitfires wearing BO codes. Hurricanes in the French airfield scenes wore just the individual aircraft letter and when based in England they took up MI and KV codes. MI coded aircraft also had the Polish insignia on the cowlings."

What is wrong with this Spitfire.

I purchased this photograph off ebay last week and I found it very interesting. I had a couple of guys in my office looking over it for a couple of days before I gave them the answers.

I did lean one thing from the show, never take your wife to such a large air show if she has not been to one before!! Too much walking for her, so with some money in her pocket she found a nice tea-room and stayed there for about an hour. I think the show was too large for her, it must have been over one and a half miles from end to end and she only has small feet, bless her. She did say she enjoyed it, but I can go on the next one on my own.
