Warplane Art / Back to the roots
« on: January 23, 2007, 04:48:05 PM »
In the 1990 I have made my first step in making of color illustration. Periodicaly I have made some art and few years later first are published in one book. I have to said that work with brush is the greatest experience which you can have. Thanks to this today I can manage my brushes in Photoshop and make color art more realistic.

Now I am decide to back to the roots. Few day's before I have start my new classic paint and this will be winter idle with Fokker triplane on it. Image show the allready made background lanscape and moment when I finish the sketch of the Fokker Dr.I.

PRESS RELEASE -- Secretary of the Air Force, Office of Public Affairs

Release No. 010107
January 22,2007

B-52 undergoes synthetic-fuel cold weather testing at Minot

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. - A B-52 Stratofortess powered by a mix of synthetic fuel arrived here Jan. 17 for cold-weather testing, the last step in the testing and certification process to help reduce Air Force dependence on imported fuel.

The aircraft, permanently assigned to the 5th Bomb Wing here, will undergo ground testing today through the beginning of February to determine how well the synthetic fuel, made from a 50-50 blend of traditional crude oil-based fuel and a Fischer-Tropsch fuel derived from natural gas, performs in extreme weather conditions.

"The B-52 is leading the way in carrying out the Air Force's vision for conservation," said Col. Eldon A. Woodie, 5th Bomb Wing commander. "Hopefully, the weather will allow us to complete cold-weather testing."

The first B-52 flight using Fischer-Tropsch fuel occurred Sept. 19 at Edwards AFB, Calif. It was an aviation first. Since then, the aircraft has been tested extensively -- up to the point of flying with synthetic fuel in all eight engines. Ground testing here will occur with synthetic fuel in all engines.

After testing here is done, the cold-weather data will be analyzed along with the data from Edwards AFB, and a complete test report is scheduled to be issued in June.

Navy Names New Aircraft Carrier USS Gerald R. Ford

Secretary of the Navy Donald C. Winter announced today the selection of USS Gerald R. Ford as the name of the first aircraft carrier in what will be the Gerald R. Ford class of carriers.

This selection honors the 38th President of the United States and pays tribute to his lifetime of service in the Navy, in the U.S. government and to the nation.

"President Gerald R. Ford provided the United States great leadership at a time of constitutional crisis," said Winter. "I am honored to have the opportunity to name the first ship in the new class of aircraft carriers after this great sailor, this great leader, this great man."

Born in Omaha, Neb., in 1913, he grew up in Grand Rapids, Mich. He starred on the University of Michigan football team where he was a center and team most valuable player in 1934.After graduation he attended Yale Law School, where he served as assistant football coach while earning his law degree.

During World War II he attained the rank of lieutenant commander in the Navy, and served on the light carrier, the USS Monterey. After the war he returned to Grand Rapids, where he began the practice of law, and entered political life.

Ford was the first Vice President chosen under the terms of the Twenty-fifth Amendment and, in the aftermath of the Watergate scandal, succeeded the first President ever to resign; serving as the 37th Vice President (1973-1974) and the 38th President of the United States (1974-1977).Prior to becoming Vice President, he served for more than eight years as the Republican Minority Leader of the House of Representatives as a representative from Michigan's 5th congressional district.

The USS Gerald R. Ford will be the premier forward asset for crisis response and early decisive striking power in a major combat operation. The carrier and the carrier strike group will provide forward presence, rapid response, endurance on station, and multi-mission capability.

The USS Gerald R. Ford and subsequent Ford class carriers will provide improved war fighting capability, quality of life improvements for sailors and reduced acquisition and life cycle costs.

EDUARD FEBRUARY 2007 UPCOMING RELEASES January 18th, 2006

This will be just a short information today, you already know important things from January newsletter. We are in Nürnberg this year as usual, our booth is B 73 in Hall 7 as usual. Let us know when we may expect your visit, please!

KITS for February
There are three kits to be released in February. After highly interesting January items, these ones fits to smaller projects, of course. See the SPAD XIII early version in LIMITED EDITION line, released as a double kit in DUAL COMBO subline. Also 1/144 scale Me 262 fits to this dual subline. Roland C.II is new member of the WEEKEND line, which runs better than we expected. Which is reason why we will continue with this line in close future, with highly interesting Mirage IIIC and Mirage IIICJ as the main releases in this line in second quarter 2007.

MARCH – Fw 190A-8 ROYAL CLASS
New ROYAL CLASS kit will be our main March release. We are on the final approach to finish this project, and we will inform you in early February about all details of this exceptional kit.

PHOTOETCHED SETS IN FEBRUARY
There are two scales on the February releases list only – 1/35th  AFV sets and 1/48th aircraft sets. Most interesting and importatnt should be the Wellington sets, which are four released in February. See also the set for our own Fw 190A-5. There are also three new Zoom sets, and five new BIG ED sets.
It is expected we will successfully start new photo-etch painting production line this month, which will bring, step by step, growth of the painted PE list in all scale lines. Also, we will set-up cancellation of  some older items in first quarter.
