One more... very beautiful. Is this grey-green and grey camouflage unusual. I thought bombers were green/brown.

Hello mate,

All markings are interesting. I like this plane. It was a very modern plane for its time.

This one has a "low" canopy, contrary to this other one:

Hello mate,

Until relatively recently, I knew of the existence of this plane and had already seen one or two photographs, but not more...
Thank you to share your job.

Hi mate,  :-salut

 :-ok :-ok

A very interesting plane, particularly the French version that we call "T-28" but this version has quite nothing to do with any American version. Officially, it was Sud-Aviation "Fennec" (. This French version is, in reality, a T-28A fuselage with a new engine (Wright R-1820-86 Cyclone). And it's after the "Fennec" that Americans mounted this engine to obtain the new T-28D.
The French "Fennec" is sometime called T-28F (F for France) or T-28S (S for Sud-Aviation), but that is absolutely not official.
The "Fennec" has no ventral dive-brake (as the T-28A). Some have a slightly higher canopy.

Hello mate,

One of my beloved early jets.
Did you plan to draw some French ones ?

Honestly, it's taken me some time to select the two paint schemes--Eduard sends decals for eight very interesting machines and I've had a hard time picking the first two for this review.

Hello, :-salut

Is there a French one among these machines ?

Aircraft Modeling / Republic P-47D-25-RE Thunderbolt in French colors.
« on: November 17, 2015, 12:53:30 PM »
Hello everybody :-salut

Here is my last finished model. This is the very old Monogram kit (issued in 1967 !) of the P-47D-25 Thunderbolt. This kit is inaccurate on some points but it's possible to correct them.
The nose is too long and the aft fuselage is too... short ! The wings in connexion with the cockpit are luckily correctly located.
The work consisted to shorten the nose by 1,5 mm and to lengthen the fuselage by 2 mm. The second point to improve is the real shape of the engine cowling which is too conical due to actual molding technics. The third point is the shape of leading edge section which is round in place of being triangular. Finally I had to relocate the machine-guns which are, in front view, horizontally laid.
When I did the modifications (beginning in 2000) I didn't take pictures but drew some schemes...
Improvement of the engine cowling and new fixing of the engine:

Actual build:

New build:

Improvement of the leading edge (the black portion is to be filed):

The "new" fuselage:

The finished model represents the plane of Sous-lieutenant guillaume who was shot down by flak on November 20, 1944 above Colmar and taken POW. The unit was GC II/5 "La Fayette". The French cocades painted simply on USAAF's stars indicate a plane from the Naples depot :

Thank you mates.
I forgot one livery (making a total of 7 !): an American for the specimen captured at Kimpo airfield. It was tested by American pilots who concluded that the Yak-9P was the Russian equivalent of the P-51D Mustang.
Based on the yak-9P, you can buy nowadays a Yak-9UM equipped with an Allison engine...
