Think that if ever made the wings would have been placed forwards to compensate for the heavier engine and change of Centre of Gravity.
Mustang with Griffon would also be nice what-if!

Well, no.1 also still has Collect-Aire's 1/48 scale Bell P-59 Airacomet kit.
This would also be a real jewel when built!

I already started this project in 1980 (yes!) but it has been shelved for many years until Srecko picked it up again. Original text has been totally renewed with much unknown information and with many, many new and rare pictures.
The book will be built up chapter by chapter and that will take time of course.
Anyway it should be really nice to see the progress on the Forum!

There is an interesting story that Lockheed test pilot Tony LeVier visited the U.S.A.A.F. in England to show pilots operational on the P-38 how to handle the twin-engine fighter in such way that they could successfully encounter the latest versions of the Bf-109 and FW-190. LeVier exactly knew how to use flaps and engine throttles to outfly any single engine type!!

A very peculiar colour scheme! Assume this was done to prevent the defending 'Dora's' being shot down by own flak. Is anyone aware of photographs of this interesting 'airfield defender'? Text on fuselage 'Der nächte Herr, die selbe Dame!' (next gentleman, same lady) is very suggestive!!

Nice article! Also the Dutch KLu had its number of F-16 solo demo-pilots.
A few years ago an all-over orange coloured F-16 was displayed by Tobias Schutte.
Tobias started his flying career at the age of 15 at ZC Flevo as a glider pilot!

As you all may conclude from this set of images, McDonnell Douglas was very interested to build it under a licence for the US civil market and they even had one of the models painted in McDonnell Douglas 'livery'!  However, all that STOL devices had to be paid for, not only in capacity but also in price. We may conclude it lost from the Lockheed Hercules. Purchase price of the 'Herc' was not that much higher and it had a much higher capacity. Hercules was not a real STOL plane but it definitely did not need long concrete runways; a 7500-1000m unpaved field was enough depending on load...

Machtrainer is at 1/72 scale. It is a vacform released many years ago by Dutch IPMS. I believe only 150 or so were made before the wooden mould broke down! After vacform S.14 Dutch IPMS introduced resin kit that is now still made by CMR.
Also CANT Z501 kit was on this inventory, but this one is not for sale!
