Combat Warplanes / Shark and aerospace paint?
« on: September 23, 2010, 04:03:55 PM »
Inspired by shark skin, researchers at Germany's Fraunhofer Institute have developed a new paint that could improve the fuel efficiency of aircraft and ships. The novel coating mimics the scales of sharks and dramatically reduces aerodynamic drag, relying on nanoparticle characteristics to withstand high speeds, UV radiation, and extreme temperatures.

Combat Warplanes / Personal satellite
« on: September 23, 2010, 04:02:04 PM »
For the hobbyist who has everything — here's your chance to send your own personal satellite into low earth orbit! For $8,000 Mojave California based InterOrbital Services will provide you with a kit to build the satellite, and then launch it for you when their rocket is ready to go in December 2010.

Combat Warplanes / Drone test
« on: September 23, 2010, 03:59:46 PM »
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have developed four autonomous quadcopters that are capable not only of performing aggressive aerial maneuvers, but also working together as a team to lift heavy payloads. The novel unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) possess claw-like grippers for grabbing surfaces and can collaborate with one another thanks to special software that relies on cooperative logic.

Combat Warplanes / Aerospace coatings
« on: September 23, 2010, 03:57:05 PM »
Aerospace, like every industry in the current economic climate, is tightening its belt to manage increasing fuel prices and a down market. However, coatings manufacturers are seeing some bright spots in aviation, thanks to military contracts; the need for greener, chrome-free coatings; and the development of coatings that can be used on newer composite materials. This report from Coatings World covers the aerospace market.

Cockpit is covered and rest images show steps in making of the airspeed tube in wing. It is first drilled hole, then I cut one strip from etched parts sheet, put inside and cement. On the top I have add two tubes from Albion Alloys and they set perfect!
