Warplane Art / Re: Convair B-58 Hustler

In fact B-58 was a medium bomber and it was also medium-sized when compared with a B-36 or
B-52 heavy bomber! One of the forthcoming 'Warplane' series will be on this very interesting type!
Publication is expected later this year.

I always try to do the opposite: restore damaged old photos into perfect images!

C-141 of 1965 image is replaced by C-17 in 2009 and of course image of 2009 shows most updated version.
Apparently that Hawkeye has an extremely long service life!

Combat Warplanes / Grumman Tracker: Please save me!
« on: June 01, 2013, 06:33:00 PM »
This Grumman Tracker is slowly rotting away at Aviodrome without any plans for restoration!
If we wait another few years it will be too late. Plane is already in very poor condition but at least it is complete!
Interested?

Looks it is a very simple and easy to build model!
It was not more than a downsized V-2 rocket with a set of extra stabilizers.
Here is a shot of one of the few test launches.

Yankee Doodle was purchased to make intercontinental flights with the well-known pilot Art Goebel. He is showing here long-wave radio equipment. Eventually the flights by Art Goebel in Yankee Doodle were never made!
This book is highly recommended for more info on the Lockheed early transport planes:
Richard Sanders Allen,
Revolution in the sky - The Lockheeds of aviation golden age
Orion Books/New York (1988)

Book is out of print but it must be readily available on the 2nd-hand book market.

Here are more shots of various Bf 108 versions including very early and also very late Nord-built types.
It was used many times in movies to act as a 'Me-109'; believe a pair were even used in 'The longest Day'!

C.10 must have been a formidable 'sports plane'!
Civil registration was used for international flight displays.
