I know it may seem a case of mistaken identity, as the Red air force did have Sopwith Triplanes. However, they were based in the Northern area during that period. Furthermore, Collishaw was an experienced pilot and ace, and his aircraft recognition skills would have been exceptional, thus adding some weight to my previous post. Markings most likely red stars in the usual positions.
As before, any thoughts?

While we're on the subject of Fokker triplanes, in the book called "At War with the Bolsheviks" (Robert Jackson, 1972) in the chapter dealing with the air campaign in the South of Russia in the Russian Civil war, the allied ace Raymond Collishaw, whilst flying with the White forces of General Denikin, describes a combat between his Camel F.1 and an all-black Fokker Dr.1. However, no photographs exist of this, which would make a very unique subject for a model.
There are no records of Dr.1's on the Eastern front, although some were used as advanced trainers and for home defence Kesta's. Also, some were given to the KuK : is it possible one may have found it's way to the Red forces.
Any thoughts on this?

Yes, I think it's a scaled-down 1:48 kit. I have a couple of the Tamiya 1:72 ones, really nice kits. The Airfix ones have the wide prop too. I have an old Revell(FROG) Ta152H-1 that I intend to make as the all-red one flown to Rechlin by the technical officer of JG301. Partially rescribed, new cowl and some detail parts from the Italeri Fw190D-9 1:72 example. It's about 50% finished : the kit is assembled but no detail work yet. Mind you, the Aoshima Ta152H is very good, as is the Dragon one. The Ta152C especially. I'd like to try to make a Ta152E, with the Jumo 222 and laminar-flow wing, but no idea how to start in terms of scale plans.

I imagine that the engineering of the kit is such that you must follow the instructions exactly, like the Accurate Minatures kits?

I have the Italeri(Dragon) 1:48 ones, but I got a D-12 tail and some engine details in resin from the USA. I'm looking forward to seeing how the kit goes together, the late 190D versions have some fascinating colour schemes. Good luck with the kit!
