Aircraft Modeling / Re: Raiden

Why should Saburo Sakai fly the Raiden? It was Japanese AAF type and Sakai was Japanese Navy pilot! Final answer must be in his biography (which I don't have).

I have seen at IPMS meeting many years ago a short movie on D-Day preparations of Typhoons with invasion markings. The invasion stripes were applied by hand from a tin of paint with a brush and as we could see it was applied not all too accurate in great hurry without even taping the rest of the wing..... And yes, people seeing the movie were laughing!!

Guess it will be a perfection of that old Esci kit. I still have it here unbuilt.
Camouflage of Viggen is greatest challenge! At least we have a nice example at Aviodrome Museum at Lelystad airport.

Beavers have been fitted with wheels, skies and floats!
In my opinion the Beaver was just as versatile as the Fieseler Storch, maybe more since I never have seen a Fieseler Storch on floats!! Maybe the Beaver is a little bit unknown but that is totally undeserved!

Interesting to see this version had a non-retractable tail wheel!

This was still the version without the tail strengthened but already armed with the 20 mm guns.
Very first versions had only machine gun armament.

Is this the 'Blokker' sell-out kit of some years ago? It was sold out for less than 10 Euro.
It is at present not in the Revell catalogue; hope Revell will re-release this nice kit at some time (and for a decent price!).

Maybe we can already say it is for one of the next Warplane books.
Release is expected in September/October.
With some 90 images and a number of color profiles I can already promise it will be a very interesting one!!

Ready yes, but without mission pod as shown on photo. This was a two-component pod.
In fact it was a small pod fitting into a much larger pod to form one single container.
Outer pod was for carrying extra fuel. Inner pod carried not only fuel but also thermonuclear bomb if needed. B-58 was a typical Cold War product!!

Combat Warplanes / Re: Tuskegee Airman Paul Adams dies

Another well-known Tuskegee pilot, Lee Archer, died in Feb. 2010. Just like Paul Adams he was invited at the 1st inauguration of president Obama. I believe Osprey has ever made a book chapter on the Tuskegee squadron in their air-war series ('Mustang aces of the Ninth & Fifteenth Air Force and the RAF' - 1999).

Assume you'll also make profile of very recent 'Blue Angels' farewell color scheme??

Yes! Wheel tires were strengthened with metal and had a very high pressure.
Operational life must have been low. For the book we have a photo showing the B-58 landing with tires almost on fire and with lots of black smoke!

Their solution was brilliant: combine the long wheel struts with small diameter wheels and it will even fit into the wing!
Photo will be published in book!
