Thermae
« on: February 23, 2019, 12:22:20 PM »
Another vignette from El Viejo Dragon: Roman women at thermae.
There is a base in resin and 4 figures; for the vignette I will use only three to give them mor space on the base. The fourth one will be painted and presented separately on an individual base...

The first photos show you the three "selected" women. Sinc I've taken the photo, the blue cloth was repainted in red... The individual onne will be, as said, presented individually

Today, I've tested a technique seen on Youtube to paint red hair with acrylics. I'm really satisfied with the result and will try to use an equivalent technique for the figures I will paint with oils...

Even if not included on the vignette, I'm still working on that individual one; she served for a new test for red hair painting with acrylics - I'm really happy with the result!
Here is the technique used:
- First Vallejo Flat Brown as a base
- Then drybrush with Hot Orange (Game Colors)
- Then drybrush with Hot Orange (Game Colors) and Flash Gitz Yellow (Citadel Colors)
- Wash with very diluted Hot Orange (Game Colors)
- Wash with very diluted mix of Hot Orange (Game Colors) and Flat Red (Vallejo)
- And finally: light drybrush with Hot Orange (Game Colors) and Deep Yellow (Vallejo)

Time to resume...

The flesh of two ladies is oil painted (AK Flesh oil set). The first one have also received an acrylic brown base on her hair.

The third figure on the display (it's finally the one who would have been stand-alone) will be a black woman.
Photo is of poor quality; result is from far better than what you see here.
As the oil paint is not dry, gloss effect is normal...
