Title: Taiwan Targets Chinese Carriers

Taiwan commenced sea trials of ­a fast catamaran corvette designed to counter China's deployment of large aircraft carriers. Dubbed a "carrier killer," the vessel has a top speed of 38 kt, low radar cross section, and armament that includes 16 anti-ship missiles. Up to 12 such ships will be acquired, to hold off and raise the risk of any Chinese invasion of the island — until the U.S. could organize support to defeat such a move.
