Title: Steampunk: Kampfläufer Suffolk I
Post by: draken35 on April 30, 2016, 05:26:07 PM
My first step in the Steampunk universe...

This kit comes from Germania-Figuren. there are 19 parts, including the driver.

The instructions sheet is quite simple...  :))

This is a resin kit, with some (rare I must say) bubble and incomplete elements (due to bubbles amongst other things).
I will detail how to correct those little imperfections...

See here, under the chimney: with a punch & die I've prepaired a replacement part

For the other extremity, it's a little bit different. I will compensate the lack of resin with... cyano drops.

Second photo shows what two drops are making as result. Of course, I will have to continue to put cyano drops until complete

Thank you!

First, the lower part of the chimney was removed and replaced.

And, for the top, I'm continuing to put cyano drop after cyano drop... Here is the actual result, 5 drops having been placed...

Thank you! Un usual subject but funny to do...

I'm hesitating for the nationality - THinking about an American Civil War Confederate one...

Some work this morning: all the bubble holes have received a cyano drop. see photos 1 & 2. On the third photo you can see how the chimney is evolving after 8 cyano drops...
I have glued in place the "body" that will receive the legs; some Vallejo putty was needed. Then I've made holes in the legs receptors and reinforced the legs with parts of a needle. And finally I have made holes in the armament guns...

After 10 cyano drops, the top of the chimney is perfect.
For the pilot, I had to remove some matter to mark the difference between nek and clothes.
And finally the biggest correction is done...

The wood elements are painted with Tamiya XF59 & XF60 (Sand Yellow & Desert Yellow).
It is a base for oil paint...

Thank you all!

Burnt umber was heavily applied on the "wooden" parts then after 1/4h the oil paint was removed with synthetic sponse.

I've also painted the pilot, using acrylics

Shadows and highlits on the driver; then yellow is airbrushed. I've also tested AK True Metal Iron: very good result as you can see on the last two photos

Thank you!

Well... FINISHED!

I've finished to put True Metal Iron; then I've weathered the parts and glued them together. Legs are fragile; two were broken even with the reinforcements pins... But fortunately it was repairable and not visible anyway.

Nice little "vehicle"...
