Title: New Foam Takes Flight
Post by: No.1 on January 09, 2015, 08:19:00 PM
German engineers have developed a new polymethacrylimide (PMI) foam product that can mimic conventional honeycomb core's tendency to show visible damage. Researchers at Composite Technology Centre GmbH are using this discovery to create carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sandwich constructions at higher efficiencies and lower cost. Their first application has been tested in airplane landing gear doors.
