Title: Laser Weapon Completes First Deployment

In November, the U.S. Navy completed a two-month deployment of its Laser Weapon System. Developed by the Office of Naval Research, the LaWS was installed on the USS Ponce (LPD-15), which was sent to the Arabian Gulf. The laser was tested against small boats and shot down a Scan Eagle test UAV.
