Well, time to begin a new horse head - Ragtime this time.
As previously said with other heads I've painted, this is a wonderful piece but that asks for lot of work. Many little holes due to air in the plaster (?) are filled with miliput...
-
Its show time ;)
-
The mane is done (with Magic Sculpt). A minor correction needed with the putty, on the base of the head...
-
Primer next?

Primer next?
First sanding of the grey putty (see the bottom of the figure) then yes, primer ;)
-
Sanding and primer done. A little correction must be made to left ear...
-
Look good for now ;)
-
Thank you my friend!
-
Maskol is used to protect the white surfaces...
-
Good old Maskol ;)
-
Sure... Remains useful! ;)
-
Good one!!
-
Thank you Scott!
Tamiya FX-52 airbrushed as acrylic base for oil paint...
-
Excellent shade for further paints :-clap
-
Yes, I think it's effectively a good shade before to use oil paints
-
Maskol removed.
-
And shape of patch is interesting ;) You have image of this horse?
-
I don't have images of the horse unfortunately, I've deleted all the photos - But I have photos of the figure I realised. So I'm working with those photos...
-
Thanks mate :)

Yes; next phase will be the painting of the nose and the mane in black. But Ragtime will take life after the painting of the eyes.
"Those horse heads, when finished, are really alive", my friend said.
-
Nose and contour of eyes painted with a mix of Vandyke Brown and Black Lamp.
For the mane, black will be different: mixed with a (very) little bit of blue
-
And good contrast is made ;)
-
Shadows: mix of Vandyke Brown + Burnt Sienna
-
:-ok
-
;)
-
The mane was oil painted today. Same mix than the one for Riboy: Black Lamp, a little bit of Vandyke Brown and a very very very little bit of blue...
The paint have to dry of course...
-
:-ok
-
Thank you! :)
-
I have painted the eyes with acrylic paints: flat brown, black and a drop of white for the light. Then I've applied gloss varnish.
The head is placed on the base and the plate with the name glued.
Finished... :-love
First two photos: artificial light.
Last two: flash

Thank you! :)
