de Havilland DH.90 Dragonfly
(1/1)
No.1:
August 12, 1935-the first flight of the de Havilland DH.90 Dragonfly transport aircraft.
The most successful de Havilland Aircraft of the 1930s was the 8-seat DH. 89 Dragon Rapide. But there was also a demand for smaller airplane on the market. The company's designers proportionally reduced the DH.89-this is how the DH.90 Dragonfly appeared.
Like its predecessor, the DH. 90 was a biplane with a non-retractable landing gear. It was equipped with 2 × de Havilland Gipsy Major II engines (142 hp) Cruising speed-201 km / h, flight range with a maximum load — 1006 km. I took on board 4 passengers + 1 crew member.
The success of DH.89 the new aircraft could not be repeated. Only 67 units of the DH.90 Dragonfly were released. They were used by private owners and small airlines in 12 countries around the world. They also served in the Air Forces of Sweden, Canada, Denmark, Belgium, etc. Today, there are 2 flying copies of the DH.90 Dragonfly preserved in the world.
