Akula
« on: January 17, 2021, 07:20:20 PM »
OKB Grigorov is editing lots of little submarines at little scales. Few parts; resin & photoetched ones.
The Akula (Nato name it "Typhoon") is at 1/1200 scale and, as you can see, the real one is a BIG one!
Building is easy but of course the little etched parts request lot of attention...

Primer airbrushed.

White airbrushed for a second time. The support will be a "wooden" one;base is Tamiya XF-60 Desert Yellow

Thank you friends!

Masking phase before to airbrush red color first.

The base was airbrushed with Tamiya XF-60 Desert Yellow then I used oil (Burnt Sienna) to give a wood effect. Quitehappy with the result; gloss varnish still needed

Thank you my friend!

As it seems, different painting schemes are existing. I've opted for the one proposed by the Revell kit, with a red front & medium grey on the undersurfaces and a more darker grey for the upper ones.

Red painted + masked with tape/Maskol: the Tamiya XF-53 airbrushed

After having masked the undersurfaces, Tamiya XF-69 was airbrushed. Then masking tape & Maskol were removed...
