Dear friends,
this work was started many years ago and parts for kit stand in various boxes. Now I have collect most of parts and will continue slow build. Kit you see here is Italeri kit of Caproni 311 in 1/72 scale. My primary interest is to make kit of the Caproni 310, which was in use in Yugoslavia. Interesting is that this is one of two kit I get to make Yugoslav kits but never completed.
Lets face first with technical features if the Yugoslav machine as well the kit in general. Basic kit have several shortcomings but in general it is fine base to do Caproni 310 or 311. First problem is the extending of the starboard wing tip. Extract from blueprint drawings show how this should look like, on all sub types, not only Yugoslav sample. Second image show the nose how it have to look like as well engine nacelle which need some correction. Kit include two different type of nose so I will need to make complete new nose from scratch. Image 03 show some details on nacelle, including of this guiding slot for the landing flap. Yugoslav samples had air deflectors in front of engine and this is shown on the image no. 04. Image 05 show nose close up for details. Next image show detail which is a bit rough done on kit and need fine trim. Wing root armament are on image 07 and there could be also seen small transparent cover in front of wind screen. Wheel and landing gear are not as simple as given in kit and close up can be seen on image 09.
Next set of images are related to the same kit build and conversions. Many years ago when I start this I did not take attention to take interior build images so we start from this completed fuselage. Note doted line, they show where assembled kit need to be cut in order to continue conversion in right direction. Most important to note is the front position of the top turret, on Yugoslav machines was in rear position and to make this I have cut the top and just flip it to back and cement it.
Last images are relatively new, they were made during model tool testing but show trim work on wing tips as well sanding of kit fuselage side as well top. Basic kit have many windows on fuselage side and there have to be covered.
Continue... soon I hope so
