Hello,

Good project.
Fuselage cutting is surprising but very astute. Régiment "Normandie" had some of those machines.

Here is first step on the kit and as expected, cockpit is first target. First image show placing metal pad on foot control and here I have used two excellent tools- placer for small parts and Gunze Sangyo tool for cement application. Third image show one small upgrade, this controls are flat and their heads are actually balls so I put some cement on it and as you see, I use glue applicator. When all parts are placed at top of the cockpit, I turn it and on bottom and place mesh on cooler. Final image is floor which is hold by Gunze Sangyo small parts holders and it is painted with Tamiya XF. color, close match to the Soviet interior color.

Dear friends,

sorry for a little delay in update of this work. Main reason is my sight problems, I have to change y glasses in following days and I hope I will return to work. In this reason I did not complete small handless on the instrument panels. Good thing is that entire cockpit can be insert from bottom of fuselage (as assembly instruction propose) so I can do it a bit later.

What you see in rest of images are fuselage and wings assembly. No specific notes about fuselage works but I will tell few details of wings. I have additional set for wing flaps and to use it, original flaps surfaces need to be removed and sanded. Other detail of importance is fact that I completely join wing elements and instruction propose to fix bottom wings on fuselage first and then to insert top half's. There is one slide rail on wing top surface which help to position wing top in good line with fuselage wing sleeves (karman).

Reason to change this step assembly is the fact that final kit I will made show plane with moderate work out paint and on wings it show basic wood primer and on fuselage root show metal. To avoid future problem with masking, I will do that priumar paints before assembly of wing fuselage and this will make sharp demarcation line. Will see ;)

Here you are work on cockpit installation as well completing of the wing flaps. Due to some problems, I give up from basic idea to paint some are of wing and wing root and then merge them. Reason is too big gap so I will do this in more traditional way.

Looking good, and those Eduard flap wells are fun to assemble! When first I saw a set of those I was scared of them, but they go together so nicely.

Here you are current situation- main parts of landing gear completed as well some small etched elements. I apply black surfacer and paint in flesh color top surface of wing. This color is more or less similar to Soviet wood protection coat, which is visible on image of subject I working on (some area have worn out paint)

Last fit before painting. Note on one image blur green spot on wing surface- this is Gunze Sangyo masking fluid and I will try it for damaged paint areas. First thing I will do is white bands, today.

I make one flap and some later will make another one. Simply I can not believe how stupid is flap spar made- from three separate metal strip, which need to be sloted into ribs and create box. This could simply made by one piece bent on two lines and it will be easy and absolute precise. It is not problem for me to make it but is it made for dozen of us in the world who can assembly this or modeling is still hobby for many?

Kit is completed. It is my first use of AZ Line and I find it as excellent product for that  purposes (like wires). problems noted here is spinner which is not possible to set into proper position as well too narrow slot for exhaust, it need some inner sanding. And this is it ;)
