Hello again, it's been a long time! We've been on holiday and I've only now been able to move forward on this one. As you can see, the missile bay is now fully armed and I really like the idea that Trumpeter gives the option of lowered launching rails. This is a job that really can try your patience, though, and requires about four hands to keep the rail support arms in place and matching each rail to the actuator:

Also the drop tanks were permanently attached and then the model was placed on its wheels and the speedbrakes were glued in place:

Hello :-salut

Very beautiful job. The unit badge is of those I like most. The one who drew this badge had a brilliant idea by representing an eagle which opens its wings.
If I remeber well, the 1/72 scale kit (F-106A) by Hasegawa has the missiles also on lowered missile rails.

I'll bet no one thought I was ever going to finish this build. Finally it has crossed the finish line. The model represents one of the first F-106s that my friend was given responsibility for when he joined the 49th FIS. He mentioned that he launched and recovered this airplane several times when he was first assigned to the flight line as a new guy.

Today I finally presented the F-106B to my friend and he took it home to join the two single-seaters I've built for him:

Thanks, friends.

My buddy is quite happy with his "fleet" and I wouldn't be surprised if he requested another one of these someday in the future.
