A new Build, once again a Spitfire: from the Airfix MK I I will build an MK II; the aircraft of Pilot Officer William Dunn (8,5 kills - survived the war).
Airfix kit is nice at first look. Engraving is a little bit stronger than needed but that don't bother me anyway...
-
Lovely plastic color, remind me on some older Airfix releases :-ok
-
Some informations about the pilot:

-
Thanks :))
-
Great new project!
Yes, that color plastic is very close to the old Hurricane I rebuilt last year.
-
Great new project!
-
Some work in progress: seatbelts made with Tamiya tape; preparation for painting; primer; then interior green...
-
I have forgotten to mask and paint the canopy... Correction made today.
Then yellow on the propeller; and rust on the exhausts.
-
A lot of preparation mate :-ok
-
Going forward!
-
Yes, going forward! I hope to close the fuselage very quickly... At least very quickly for me! ;)
-
Painting of the little instruments, seatbelt, wheels and interior of radiator
-
Relaxing work, turn on radio, beer on desk and go...
-
Exactly! ;)
-
Oil wash...
-
Now it is complete- inside :))
-
Have to airbrush matt varnish and then pastels... ;)
-
Progress of those last two evenings...
-
Goood :-ok
-
Thank you! :)
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap
Very nice!!!
-
Progress!
-
Thank you! ;)
Minor correction made with Mr Surfacer 500...
-
500 is the King!!!
-
Sanding is finished...
-
:))
-
Not much filler needed on this one!
-
No indeed Scott, filler was not too important to use finally...
Primer airbrushed today
-
Great mate, masterpiece coming :))
-
Hope so... ;)
-
Sky (Gunze H74) for the undersurfaces; and propeller is painted in black
-
Radiators are in place now
-
Undersurfaces are masked, then Gunze H72 Dark Earth is airbrushed
-
Very good shade mate :-ok
-
Thank you!
Next step not before mid-week...
-
Cool
-
Zones to be painted in dark green are delimited
-
Yes sir!!!
-
Dark green is airbrushed, and Tamiya tape removed
-
Sharp work mate!!!
-
Thank you!
I don't like the blue color of the plastic of the kit. But once painted, conclusion is evident: That Airfix kit is really a nice little one!!!
-
Very nice !
-
Thank you! ;)
-
Yes the blue plastic is a bit bright, but your results are wonderful! :-ok
-
Thank you Scott! ;)
-
First (light) weathering stage; then Pébéo gloss varnis was airbrushed.
Decal setting in progress now...
-
Decals are in place!
-
What a gorgeous look!
-
Thank you my friend!
-
I adore your builds- thank you for sharing this for us :-ok
-
:-red :-red :-red
Thank you my friend.
When this one and the 1099B will be finished, I will start a new build, this time a BIG one (1/32 scale)
-
1) Pébéo gloss varnish
2) Oil wash (Abteilung 502 Brown Wash)
3) Propeller, propeller bosse and legs are in place
-
:)) :))
-
Pébéo matt varnish, then the masks of the canopy are removed...
-
...And finally the funniest part of the game: the use of pastels!
I have used Tamiya Snow on the Sky color; Tamiya Green on Dark Green; Tamiya Sand on Dark Earth ans MiG pigments "Black Smoke" for the exhausts and ammo smokes.
A drop of Citadel Colors Brown ink for the excess of oil
...And finally the antenna wires.
Finished!
That little Airfix kit is quite a good one. Not at same level than Tamiya, but very cheaper and that's a good point for him. As you see, with a cheap kit you can obtain nice results ;)
-
Final result is so good and this is most important!!!
-
A very excellent build!
Your comment about Airfix versus Tamiya is exactly as I've experienced with the Bf 109E in 1/48--the Airfix is very nice and inexpensive but the Tamiya is still a little better. Both good kits, though!
-
In lack of a better word, fantastic !
