So, FRROM released what was the last French fighter biplane. The aircraft was in competition with the Dewoitine 500 to reequip the Armee de l'Air. Dewoitine won but an order was also placed for 60 SPAD 510, to maintain the activities of the Bleriot-SPAD factory.
The kit looks very nice! FRROM kits are made by Special Hobby and are now of very good quality.
I love the look of that biplane... :-love

Painting of the cockpit interior. Quite simple : aluminium overall... I've airbrushed Vallejo Metal Color 77.701 Aluminium.
I've just added seatbelts, made from Tamiya masking tape and paintbrushed in beige.
Then varnished with AK Gauzy Agent and Tamiya black panel liner applied.

Really lovely and rare machine :)) Wonderful choice!
-
Thank you my friend
-
Cockpit interior inserted into the fuselage; wings glued, putty sanded
-
Fast!!!
-
nice progress mate !
-
Thank you mate !
Well, I've continued to work on my SPAD but did not posted photos... Here there are.
First, black base
-
After that, the fuselage received Vallejo Metal Aluminium. The undersurfaces of the wings were painted with Gunze H8 ; then the tail with AK RC Signal Red and finally the upper surfaces of the fuselage & the wings, plus the struts were painted khaki (70% Gunze H81 + 30% Gunze H305)
-
My computer is overload, can not open images but look so advancing from thumbs :-ok
-
I open images, Khaki look great, is it French paint? I have chance to observe one sample and it was very close to FS 24098 (if I can remember well)
-
Well, I've just followed the instructions from FRROM...
-
Not problem at all, its look fine :)
-
I've airbrushed Gauzy Agent from AK as gloss varnish ; then decals were applied in one sitting :-green
Excellent decals I must say.
-
:-razz :-razz lovely camouflage combination!
-
Thank you my friend !
-
Looks excellent mate !
-
Thank you mate !
I've airbrushed gloss varnish again to seal the decals ; then I've used Tamiya Black Panel Liner. The headrest of the pilot is paintbrusehd in AK Acrylic 3D AK11102 Deep Brown and the exhaust pipes in AK Acrylic 3D Dark Rust.
To be precised that the aircraft will have a glossy finish.
-
Semi gloss if I can remember well ;)
-
If I remember correctly the fuselage was metal. I would go with gloss finish on NMF surfaces and all other matt, or semi gloss, it would make a very nice contrast
-
Thank you for your comments mates
-
Taking into account your comments I was wondering how to limit the glossy effect oif my paint.
Best way I've found is to use MIG P036 Green Fading pigments. Result is better than what the photo shows
-
This is it :-love
-
I've also placed the machineguns under the wings; the windshield and the visor
-
After that, MIG pigments "black smoke" on the exhausts
-
The blank positionnement of the wing struts revealed that the plots are too big. I've totally removed them (but for an easier positionnement, it is better to keep a little part of them)
-
Yesterday I've placed the wing struts and fixed the upper wing ; today I've placed the cabane struts
-
Very fast and good build!!!
