Title: Royal Class Fw 190A
Post by: No.1 on January 17, 2016, 04:47:05 PM
This will be slow motion project as well four samples are inside and even more decals options. First at all, I will borrow decals from this set and include in other kit (also Eduard) and then will be back and complete this one. Many kits are on order and I give my best to make em in time. One of the kit from this set will be made with many Eduard upgrade sets and it will be special one. This set include as you see, small piece of original Fw 190 crashed in combat and one nice glass.

This is quite a Royal Class offering!!!!

That piece of the real machine dramatically connects history to the model kits. I had the pleasure to meet a Sturmbock pilot several years ago.

Well, I really didn't visit with him for more than ten minutes or so. We were working on the B-24 during the reconfiguration project in 2007 and I was in the bomb bay when an elderly gentleman with a German accent asked if he could look around inside. We talked a little and he explained his point of view of the B-24 was from the cockpit of a Fw 190........ He went up to the cockpit and sat down in the left seat. You could tell he was thinking about what he'd experienced all those years ago. He'd been in a Sturmbock unit (after flight training and with not very many hours of flying time) and told me his idea of combat was to follow the leader and scrunch down into the cockpit during the firing pass so no bullets would get him on the way through. He doubted he ever hit anyone or anything, but he survived and lived to tell of it.

He told me his greatest contribution to the Luftwaffe was that he never ground-looped a Bf 109 in training! A very nice man and I wish to this day that I had written down his name.

I'll have to think about the salt method again, I've used the toothpaste several times with decent results. Yours looks better with the salt, I think.
