Greetings all,
actually I wanted to start to build MiG-29 I received for review but as well printing of drawings failed I switch to this kit, also received for review. This is SMT version, it have larger hump and very colorful. I like it very much and long time ago I have 1/72 kit, manufactured in Russia (or maybe that was still Soviet Union?). Kit is very good and I will also power it with some Eduard extras like engine and ladders (also review follows).
:-ok
-
MiG :-love :-love
-
Yes and this will be slow build, I will take even some two weeks to make, slow slow slow
:))
-
Engine completed ;)
-
I like this :)
-
I like this too, and will follow carefully your build, as the same kit is on my stash...
-
Thanks friends, SMT have very interesting camouflage and this will be best part of this build
-
Excellent job!! :-clap :-clap
-
Thanks ;)
-
Slow preparation of the interior parts, all of this part will be painted in blue green but still not sure about the landing gear bay as well I does not have image of particular machine I plan to make.
-
:-ok
-
NIce progress.I am wondering what colour will u use for the cockpit?
-
Blue green, hand mixed :(
-
Few more images...
-
Good progress...
-
I'm taking notes on this, you know, for the GB later on. ;)
-
No problem, I have one more kit but other scale. Now the interior is painted, not sure am I going to continue work today but it is few hours from fuselage assembly.
-
Some more work on this kit today. First image show few more packages I going to include in this build, one is ejection seat from Brassin series and the second pack is the various exterior items for MiG-21. No special comment about the rest of the images, just standard work with parts from kit box. To regret my camera is not much sensitive so some of levers could not be with easy determined from images. One thing which catch my eye is that cockpit floor is somehow empty, I have no good images of this area but I guess there need to be add some more detail. Fuselage is ready to be merged but I will try to see is there anything more to add on cockpit.
-
I like this. Nice job mate! :-flo :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you, in this moment I complete wings interior and prepare it for painting...
-
wings interior
What is that? Any pic? :-think
-
Yes, I have, will resize them later and post...
-
;) Thank you.
-
Wing work :))
-
Very nice!!!
-
Oooohh yes... I have forgot that Eduard MiG-21 series have all those things in wheel bays. :-red
Nice work! Now you must paint all those things. :-flo
-
Looking good.The IP is great.
-
Thank you friends, kit get wings and horizontal tail. Now next step is check out of all joint line and then small parts positioning.
:-ok
-
:-ok
-
Nice work!
-
Excellent!
-
Thank you :)
-
Very inspirational. Do MiG -21's rest with flaps slightly down or are they in the neutral position?
-
I seen many images with flaps in neutral position but I did not take much attention so no idea is there any with flaps in down position. I know air brake could be open on ground but again not the rule.
-
Liquid filler just in case, in general this kit does not need it. There is few spots visible on second image, I will sand it some later.
:-wave
-
Good progression!!!
-
:-ok
-
It seems like you have a lot of work ahead :)
-
Thanks friends :)
-
Sorry for shaking hands, this is what I have done yesterday but did not make images, I make it few minutes ago. Hope I will paint it today.
-
Nice progress.I can't wait to see this one painted :)
-
Good progress! :-clap
-
:-ok
-
Hard pain has stop my modeling wok, but the same kit is ready for painting. Hope tomorrow :-dal
-
Nice. :-ok
Hope you will be better soon. :-flo
-
Take some rest, mate...
Nice work anyway
-
I think so :(
-
Great, great build! :-obey
Get well soon, my friend :-ok
-
I hope so,thank you ;)
-
Blue at bottom. You can not see on this image, even on original on large size but there is two small pins which need to be repaired. So paint will be repeat later but will not slow down this build.
-
And basic green is over...
-
Looks pretty good :)
-
Good. :-ok
-
Thanks ;)
-
:-ok
-
Great work in one of my favourite planes.
For your knowledge only,White Ensign produces the most accurate blue/green enamel colour for the soviet cockpits.
AC SM 07 MiG COCKPIT INTERIOR TURQUOISE (for MiG 21, 23, 25 & 27)
or you can use Revell 55 Light Green
(http://www.model-mania.uk.com/bmz_cache/d/d6a1861ef239ffc82d8a91950e044e6e.image.350x245.jpg)
Or even mix a 50/50 ratio of Gunze Sangyo H25 Sky Blue and H46 Emerald Green.
:-salut
-
I think that MM autentic is also right color(i don't know right number, for now,but i can post it in few days.)
MM autentic blue/green,maybe num is 2071,or something like that. ;)
-
Excellent info Zetman :-ok Thank you very much :)
-
I continue work on this kit ;) Two colors at the top ;)
-
looks wonderfull
-
I like it too!
-
Thank you :)
-
Very nice!! :-clap :-clap
-
One green more over...
-
Soon glass coat. :-ok
-
Today will add last top color, brown, left it one day to rest and then will prepare surface, nice occasion to test some of new material. And yes- gloss coat is possible.
-
Last camouflage color is on the top
-
I love this cammo :)
-
Me too, my favorite MiG-21 camouflage :))
-
Yes, really beautiful camouflage! ;)
-
:))
-
When the whole kit have its colors I have noted that ventral fin did not set up properly to the bottom, it have visible gap. So I have to remove it, sand it again to clean up surface and then sand it to make precise contour. After dry run I have cement it with liquid cement (work excellent). During the nervous maintenance with kit I have also crashed radio aerial under the wing so I sand also place around it position and place it again. Hope that further build would be without problem. But better to ask- did any of us ever have absolute smooth build, without any traces of problems or nerve tensions?
-
I saw that gap on previous pics, and now,it is great! :-clap
-
I am a bit lazy but this goes forward somehow ;)
-
Looking good :)
-
No much things to be done. This beautiful MiG-21SMT is close to finish line. :-jump
Go forward, hardly wait to see it in showcase. ;)
-
It is gloss now and will take some time to apply decals. Only question is did it have all decals? So much of them on decal sheet but in general not all of them was used...
-
:-ok
-
As i know, MiG-21 has muuuuch stencils. ;)
-
True. This mean two days of work but final result is so attractive!
-
I agree with you. Can't wait to see progress. :-jump
-
Very nice
-
Thank you :))
-
Very small progress, just painted some small areas, kit is ready for decals and it is just on me when I will go to apply all of them
-
:-ok
-
:-ok
-
Apply decals going slow and best part is that Eduard has forget some decals to print but they are mention in instruction leaflet.
-
Looking good! ;)
So much decals :-wall but this is 1/48,so for the accuracy of the aircraft, the number of decals is very important.
-
That much decals that I think that for a time to put all of this they could manufacture whole new aircraft. I wonder how this will look like to use in our life? Like...
This is refrigerator handle, close it after service
Electric plug, do not put finger inside
Metal spoon- open your mouth to allow food transfer inside
-
:))
-
True!!!
-
A few years ago I did a walk-around of an Il-78 that was sitting at Perrin Field in Texas. I was amazed at the number of stencils on the airplane! Just like your MiG but larger with lots more placards.
Can't wait to see the final product,
Scott
-
Thank you friends :) I have completed whole port side, now to recover and complete other side as well top wings...
-
Decals, decals, decals...
-
So much decals. ;) On my MiG-21 also was so much decals. ;)
-
Your is harder as well it is 1/72
-
Hi Sall!
-
Something like that. ;)
Hi David! :-flo
-
There are so many instruction placards/stencils that they almost didn't need camouflage--they could have made the lettering in the desired color and it almost covers the airplane! :-tri
Looking good, No.1. :-ok
-
Thank you :))
-
Can't wait to see it finished.
-
Me to and to free work space for new kit...
-
Lot of work but excellent one!
-
Thank you :)
-
Small parts are ready for painting... now to fight my laziness :-red
-
Sometimes, to take some rest is good...
-
Every good model has much small parts. ;) Go forward mate. ;) :-flo
-
Wonderful moment- it standing :-tri
-
:)) And it it very nice!! :-clap
-
:-ok
-
:))
-
Looking great! I'm interested in how you would do the weathering.
Primož
-
I have already done something, with thin coat of paint, later will just make some detailing of panels, this is all
-
The end is near :)
-
Yes, I have paint wheel hubs and assemble tires, tomorrow it will be fully landed and then finishing touches
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Landing gear is fully on :-razz
-
Hardly wait to see it finished. ;)
-
Me too, now I have put basic surface coat on extra seat which will be used.
-
Work on seat
-
Still work on seat...
-
great looking seat.
-
Still more to work on belts ;) In this moment kit of MiG-21 get one top coat of Klir and next day I go to finish some details on it.
-
Really, great seat! ;)
Eduard is king in PE parts. :-tri
-
True King!!!
-
Seat is completed :))
-
Looking good, Srecko! Are you online?
-
Seat is excellent!!! :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Nice work mate!
-
Thank you :)
-
And here it is- basic kit completed :-razz
-
It looks really nice. But where is the weathering?
-
Very little but can not be seen due to the image compression. I am not fan of weathering as well panel highlight (except this is so clear on images...)
-
WOW! :-eek Final look is excellent,EXCELLENT!! :-clap :-clap :-clap
Paint in cockpit is debatable, but not your fault. :-think
Anyway,great,great job! :-clap
-
Thank you mate :) Paint in cockpit is the same as paint on Eduard etched parts :))
-
All right. :-ok Then, it is Eduards fault. I'm sure that paint must be more green. ;)
-
Better not to say about faults as well I did not seen enough of cockpit to claim anything precise. There is variations of this interior blur colors but hardly to say anything from images. Hope they have analyze real subject and make this color...
-
:-ok
-
I like it!!!
-
Thank you ;)
-
Like it a lot. Few years back i made a condor version of this variant in 1/72 scale but this is much much better.
Primož
-
I am wonder how this kit look like but I am sure in your skill ;)
-
Thats' what I'm talkin about. Very nice model.
-
Thank you mate :)
