Title: Mig-17 (HB 1/48)
Post by: pkrasna on October 15, 2011, 09:50:10 PM
Hello!

I'm posting for the first time on this forum. Like your community verry much and now is time to present some of may works. The last project on my work bench is an Egyptian MiG-17 in 1/48 scale. I intend to biuld it straight out of box. The scale model is well detailed on the outside with sufficient details on the insade. Two major concearns are when building HB miniature replica. First are glass parts which are thick with thick cabin rams. The other is missalingment ot two halves, front and the rear part, of the fusselage.

This is how it looks now.

Thanks everybody for your kind words. The bird got it's colors. But only on the top so far. I set myself to build an exotic Mig-17 so I chose Angola AF colour scheme. For the decals I'll use HI-DECAL set 48-005.

And here it is painted lower parts with Vallejo MA 08. I forgot to mention that I used sand Vallejo MA 75 and brown Vallejo MA 29 fot the uper camouflage.

Coming from someone else who also enjoys "non-mainstream" markings, this is a great nationality choice, Primoz!

Cockpit was made OOB. There are enough details and with little paint and weathering looks OK.

Oh... It looks sooo cool!! So unusual model, and looks greeeeeat!! :-clap :-clap
One question,or better to say application. Can you describe in topic "Some modeling techniques" ( http://www.letletlet-warplanes.com/forum/makete-aviona-aircraft-modeling/some-modeling-techniques/30/ ) you weathering procedure. I'm young modeler, and i don't know anything about weathering. What is pastels,postshading,etc...? What is diference betwen tamiya weathering set A,B,C,D and pastels... What details on original plan pics you must to look, to do weathering on your model. :-think :-think
If any of forum members want to describe yours method,i will be satisfied and happy. :-flo
Ps. Sorry for offtopic and ruin you great topic Primoz. :-flo

Thank you all!

There are many projects on my workbench right now. Currently I'm working on Matchbox Heinkel He-115, Jastreb in 1/48 scale and Italeri bell 412. A few days back we decided with my coleague modeller to work at the same time on the Revell Lancaster in 72. This will be probably the one to do next.
