Well, I'm a bit stuck with my F-4 project so I decided to take a brake and make one OOB kit, just to relax a bit. I choose an a bit aged Eduard's kit but I just love this bird and I will make a Royal Yugoslav Air Force one, the Š-07.... Oh, yes, did I said OOB ? Well almost, Eduard's PE set is in the game and Eduard's Brassin wooden propeller..... As the first step I build the cockpit and the engine
-
Relax is good ;)
-
The Me 108 is a nice aircraft indeed!
-
Engine got basic paint and dry brush not much is visible after assembly so this would give enough effect....
-
Far enough as well not much will be seen inside cowling
-
:-ok
-
A good relaxing build!
-
Thank you friends !
Main parts joined, lot of putty and sanding.....
-
All normal as I see ;)
-
Lots of issues around the wheel bay and wheel doors on this kit...... After looking up the pictures and kit parts I decided to make the wheel doors from scratch, plan B is to use the original kit parts..... Out Of Box did I say ? To loose my self I choose some music while building this delicate parts.....

Mission impossible... to build kit direct from box :))
-
Yes it seem like it :)) I tried but I just can't......
Start of the cockpit
-
Good texture of seat surface
-
Nice!

Hello !
Good subject.

-
Thank you friends !
Here is some progress on cockpit, the basic color is faded ( own mixture ) RLM02 than the basic shade with original RLM02 then I play a little with oil paints, first light in the middle of the bigger flat areas then a darker on the sides
-
:-ok
-
Looks good
-
Thank you friends !
The cockpit is done, details " brought out " with Van Dyck black. The pe parts was pre-painted only matt cote was needed and on the instrument panel after the matt cote I made the glasses on the instruments with gloss cote
-
Convert it into black and white photo and will look like real ;)
-
No.1 now that's a fine idea ! here how it looks :)
-
:-razz :-razz :-razz :-clap

Nice!

Hello all,
>> Modellius : Will be this Bf 108 B civil or military plane ?
If it's a civil a/c, seats are OK.
On military planes seats were made of fabrics.
Another detail : don't forget to make curtains under the transparent roof of the canopy.

Thank you mate, I will have to make some more detail research, the Š-07 crashed so small amount of photos of this bird is available, if I don't find anything specific any version is ok :-green
In the meantime while the endless hours of get this kit in straight line ( lot of putty and sanding, rebuilding the lost details ) I started the base. I like to keep it simple, so I found a picture frame of good size, made the background from balsa wood ( which will be the base of the scene ) and glued a layer of newspaper on it, the newspaper gives a pretty good base for the rest of the work
-
This is going faster than I imagined... I made the base of ground with some sand, ( a friend's gift who work in the foundry ), basic paint is black, then earth, first wash with burnt umber, and then high lightning the details with black wash and sand brown dry brush
-
And I try some different approach, to break up the military look..... Static grass and flowers are Model Scene products and they are great !

The last few months were very turbulent in my life, lots of things happened that made me make huge, very huge changes in my life so I didn't even go nearby my workbench..... Guess every and each one of us had the same feeling in some period.... However I'm back to my Bf108, it goes slow but I think maybe it's normal, soon I be back in the saddle as I should be. The conopy is cutted, I will make it opened, and yes it broke, but I wrote to Eduard to tell them what happened so they sent me a replacement part, so thank you Eduard, very, very professional of you, proper way ! After the conopy had been installed, putty and sanding again, so now I'm in replacing the lost details and counting rivets..... To be continued soon my friends
-
All right... life is there, kit is there, enjoy ;)
-
Welcome back my friend
-
Thank you friends for your words, means a lot to me !
In the meantime, I made some progress, the wheel bays are poor on this kit, so I had a think a lot what to do to make it a bit better. First I made the whole new '' floor '', the next trouble was the canvas, so I took a deep breathe and try something new, made some canvas from Milliput, don't know yet is it good or not, first I will sand it a bit and then apply a surfacer too see what am I done ( this is still the raw condition without the sanding ) , so we will see is the kit going in to the trash can ( hope not ) or to continue.....
-
You could cement real canvas there, some extra fine, you would get faster and better results
-
Nice work mate.
For the use of miliput, there is a tip: you put miliput where needed then with a Q-tip humidified with water you can work on it to diminue the thickness and have less sanding to do...
-
Extract from original old photo show fabric or maybe even leather, so smooth surface. So there was no need for any fabric imitation. Maybe this wire on rim... but, you say this is relaxing build?
-
Yes, you are right, but I did find a photo on the net, from a book, of the original bird and it is "heavy " canvas in the wheel bay, so I think both are right..... And Yes, a relaxing project...... Well it started like that but you know me....... Update of the conopy, playing with miliput again
-
:-ok
-
This should be a relaxing project but it's not, I'm loosing interest in this one slowly, but I want to finish it and get over it so it goes slow......Very, very slow..... A lot of trouble in the nose section, lot of gluing again, putty, sanding, details, glue, putty, sandpaper, details and it went over and over again..... Tail section is completed and preparing for Surfacer, the last one I do hope so.....
-
Now you see that job of review kits is not easy, need to do kit fast and almost perfect ;) I did two of this kit for review...
-
Not easy but can be a good personal challenge...
