Title: Me 262
Post by: No.1 on November 20, 2009, 07:45:01 PM
Greetings all,

I want to finish my old kit of Me 262 in 1/72, old Matchbox, and I have choose to use red X machine. What I am wonder is to find more info about this machine. There is one restored in UK with this markings but there is also one preserved with mixed markings in museum. Data is very confusing, any idea?

Cheers  :-flo

Have you seen this one at the RAF Museum London?

I think I may have some images in my collection.  :-think

Hi mate,  :-salut

The photos you have posted represent "Me 262 A-2a, WNr 500200, black X, which surrenderd at Fassberg on 8th may 1945. It was from 2./KG 51. This machine is at present day at the Australian Air Force Museum.

And how about the W.Nr. 112372, red X also from KG 51? It is subject of the kit or maybe everything is wrong with decals?

112372 was actually "gelbe 7" from I./JG 7, surrendered too at Fassberg on 8th May 1945...

So total confusion with the decals... I have red X and white ten, and two serials, 112378 and 500313 and don't know what to do. Maybe red X but it is obviously black :(

Here an image of 500200 :

And the origin of 500313 in 1966... from an era when all was to be doscovered upon the Me 262 :
It's to be noted the WNr is not very legible...

Excellent! So I have to overpaint the red on X and then go to finish the kit. It look like on the images of the preserved X that it have no serial number on tail. Well.... I just want to complete during the moment of relaxation this easy to built kit but... this is impossible! A little rework is important  :-kr

Thank you friends for suggestions, materials and link  :-tri

Cheers  :-ok

The WNr was actually painted on the fin and is under british paint on your photos...

Well... not the best result and no doubt that more will be made about black X in some future and hope with better kit.
