I finally opened the box and fully studied the C.200 that I recently bought. The prior owner did a nice job on the cockpit and I'm leaving it just as he built it. I'm not sure if the color is just right, but I refuse to change his work.
Then I moved on to the exterior seams and decided a little more filler was needed in a few areas. My guess is that the first builder intended to finish the seams before stopping work.

Grey in cockpit is excellent

The previous modeler made a good job, know your work it will be superb !

:-ok

I've spent a little time on this the last few days. First I fitted the windscreen to the fuselage--this was a bit tricky since it's a vacuform piece, but the fit wasn't too bad and it went well. Then I finished building up the landing gear assemblies. Classic Airframes made these from white-metal struts and photoetched doors and mounting brackets. After that, a coat of Grigio Mimetico on the gear assemblies and windscreen frames and it'll be time to start prepping for camouflage!

Interior of cockpit- medium grey
Interior of rest of airframe- medium green (average 34272)

I think, looking at the one color photo I have, the wheelwells are lower surface grey. I will investigate!

:-ok

Aha- you are right, it is bottom camouflage color :)
-
Time for grey on the bottom and the nice white fuselage band and crosses on the tail:

I love the shape of most Italian designs, including this one!

Last evening I sprayed the green, then this morning I woke up early, brewed coffee and painted the mottled colors. I LOVE Italian camouflage colors!! Later I still have to spray yellow on the cowling that is still in primer.

Thanks, mates!
Here is today's installment, just the yellow cowling and the propeller and tires were painted. Perhaps some gloss tomorrow night, maybe even decals!

Look so attractive!! Now one detail, front ring on engine is brass? Or aluminum?

I got a few photos taken in between showers this morning.
This represents one of the first production C.200s that were initially built with the fully enclosed canopy. This one was later modified to the more common clamshell semi-open transparency that pilots preferred at that time. It's painted in markings of 374th Squadriglia at Grottaglie in April of 1941.
