As promised, a few photos of the finished Seafire. I haven't enough time to write the historical material but I'll do that tonight and add some more photographs.

And a P.S. request:
Does anyone have a set of standard wingtips for the Spitfire in their spares? I need a set of normal tips (and perhaps an early rudder) for a 1/48 ICM Mk.IX. I thought the kit came with them but it doesn't. :-red

Okay, here is the historical reference for this model:

As I was looking through my leftover decals this Seafire caught my eye. After reading a little, I realized that this particular airplane flew combat patrols during the Operation Torch landings of which my father was part. He used to mention Spitfires quite frequently when we talked about North Africa so I felt like I should build this machine.

The actual airplane was Seafire IIc MB156 of 885 Squadron. She was flown from the carrier HMS Formidable and S Lt J.D. Buchanan shot down a French DB7 during operations over Algiers Bay. The temporary American stars were overpainted over the FAA roundels in an effort to make the Vichy troops think Torch was an all-U.S. operation. The photo I have of this airplane shows that it was nearly factory-fresh when Torch was underway, hence the lack of any real weathering on my model.

Thanks, y'all!

Here's my next British project, this time a restoration. (I know it isn't a Spit, but kinda fits here...)
