OK, new project. I have to build this one for "KIT", the IPMS-Belgium magazine.
Kit looks very nice.
The most important thing is that you have to choose the deco you want to build before to begin (holes must be done differently into the wings for a C2 than a C7) and also the load charges to use...
Here I've begun the work. I will build an Equatorian Kfir C2...
-
Wash and weathering
-
Sound interesting, South Americans have some very attractive camouflage pattern. And I am impressed how much enthusiasam is envolved into your Kit magazine
-
Fine start, mate!
-
Thank you friends !
-
excellent start mate !
-
Thank you mate!
-
Trying some fitting of the parts, I've seen that the low part of the back of the seat support must be painted; it integrates the front wheel bay...
Corrected. :))
-
Aha :-ok
-
Great !
-
Well...
Actually I've build, from AMK:
- 1/48 Fouga Magister
- 1/72 Delphin
...And I was more than happy with those kits.
This 1/72 Kfir is a little bit disappointing... Nothing that will make the build impossible, but the kit will ask for lot of work...
Anyway, it's really a Kfir! :)
-
Definitely need surgery to make it good

Yes, lot of work. If you wish to build that kit, it's better to build it with open canopy...
-
Haha- all right :))
-
lot of extra work, you'r doing a good job, keep it on, I'm looking forward to see the progress
-
Thank you!
I've put very fine Evergreen under the canopy and glued all the little parts. Not easy to place... :-think
-
that gap is under the conopy is huge or that scale.....seems like a lot more to do

Yes sure, I will use putty...
-
Problem of the canopy corrected. And I've used Vallejo Putty on other places and also to fill the gaps I made for armament I will not use...
One thing that is annoying for me: the wings are so thin that there are gaps for the whell legs... So I will have to place the wheel legs before painting... Unusual way to go for me...
-
Precise work with filler ;)
-
Thank you ;)
-
nice progress mate, you solved the problems very nicely
-
Is it possible to fill the locating holes with small styrene plugs and then drill tiny holes and use wire to locate the landing gear legs?

Excellent idea Scott, but I think that the space is too thin...
I will take a look anyway
-
Yes, I'm thinking in 1/48 scale. Filling the holes and drilling for wire will only lead to new, smaller holes.
-
Well, after reflexion, best to do is to paint the undersurfaces; then to place the wheel legs; then putty and sanding on the uppersufaces and painting of the uppersurfaces.
The work begins with masking the wheel bays and the exhaust
-
Precise masking
-
Thank you ;)
-
Lacking of time actually...
But little progress: undersurfaces painted + some details
-
Your solution with the landing gear is the best in this case.
-
Thank you my friend.
It's a very frustrating problem I must say...
-
lot of work, looks good !
-
Thank you mate.
Paneling of the undersurface is at hal way... :-green
-
Paneling of undersurfaces done :))
-
looks great !
-
Thank you!
Two sittings were needed for the decal setting on the undersurfaces...
-
I LOVE DELTA WINGS!
-
Me too, Scott ☺
-
:))
-
excellent !
-
Thank you
-
Wheels in place. Now, to work on those bl..dy holes...
-
Holes and gap days on forum builds :))
-
It seems indeed 😆
-
The Kfir is placed in such a way there will be no problem to continue to work on it.
The holes are filled with Perfect putty
-
Good use of the box as a trestle fixture!
-
Sanded. No more holes...
I will resume the work soon
-
After all this filler work, rest is absolute must!!
-
Well repaired, mate!
-
very good !
-
Thank you!
First "light" green airbrushed.
Instruction sheet suggest 50% of Gunze H39 + 50% of H312.
...H39 is purple color... I'm wondering if there is mayber a typo and you have to read H309 and not H39 (H309 being the "dark" green to be applied as second camo color).
Anyway, the photos of actual aircrafts show big difference for the light green so I've decided to use "full" H312...
-
Gunze have that color, no need to mix, your shade look good
-
looks good !
-
Thank you!
-
After having masked the aircraft, I've airbrushed Gunze H309
-
Few hours of masking, few minutes paint work... old modelers story :))
-
looks good !
-
Thank you!
Masks removed...
-
excellent job mate !
-
Thank you mate
-
That looks really great!
-
Thank you Scott!
Little progress...
-

-
Thank you!
-
First session of decal setting...
-

-
Nice!
-
Thank you! ;)
-
Decal setting phase for the port side...
It remains to do the same but starboard
-
Small decals and many of them
-
Lot of them, I confirm
-
3 sittings needed but finally all decals are in place... :))
-
Well, beer time now ;)
-
