My first helicopter since at least 40 years!!! I will make a "what-if"...
Pieces are prepaired for base paint
-
As a mechanic, that rotor head is so interesting to me....
-
Good!!
-
Nice !
-
A little bit of fun, using the airbrush three times on a sitting, but with three different products: Gunze Metal Black; then black base for AK metal paints on the exhausts; and finally AK Real Color Turquoise... I really love AK Real Colors!!!
-
nice progress
-
Superb!
-
All right, all right... how much cost those Real Colors?
-
Thank you my friends.
Réal Colors aren't too expansive. Approximatively €2.40
-
Ooooo!!! And compared with Gunze about quality and work properties?

Ooooo!!! And compared with Gunze about quality and work properties?
Gunze is still my favourite brand of paint actually, but that could change because Real Colors are really easy to apply, giving a smooth surface and drying very, very fast. A real pleasure to use. and good covering: remember my little mirage 5 Mark One and the mistake with the painting of the left wing: I did not have to remove the paint nor to airbrush a base color...
-
Good tips, thank you so much!
-
My pleasure, my friend!
Another brand of excellent paints: AK Xtreme metal. Exhausts airbrushed with Burnt Metal
-
Looks excellent mate !
-
Thank you my friend
-
Cockpit interior painted
-
Interesting, everyone who make WhatIf subjects, leave cockpit (in case of airplane), almost in original form, including of cockpit colors ;)
-
You're right my friend. For my Ka-50 it's the case, because offered or sold by Russia to... Well, a little bit of patience to know the user...
-
Then enjoy ;)
-
Looks very nice mate !

Weathering of the cockpit done. Half fuselages glued. Lot of putty will be needed... But well, Ka-50 is a very nice helicopter!
-
Use of two putties: Vallejo & Tamiya white
-
nice progress !

Tamiya stick strong and how with another one?

After sanding phase, canopy in place and white primer

-
Nice progress mate !
-
Well, enough ;)

Thank you!
I've forgotten to take photos of the first green I've airbrushed (Real Color RC027 Forrest Green). Then after two long sittings for masking, I've airbrushed Gunze H80 Khaki Green. Contrast between both green is not as heavy as seen here (photo with flash) - Third photo is better for contrast.
I remember this important fact: I'm building a "what if"...
-
This paint greatly fit to it!!!
-

Yes, I'm really happy with the result
-
Position light and other lights painted; tyres paintbrushed
-
This green variation look interesting!! I am wonder how green digital camouflage would look like

Well that could be a project for another build
-
After having airbrushed AK Real Color Gloss Varnish (and that's a good one!!!), decals were applied.
As a what-if, I've decided to build a Wallonian Ka-50! To remember that Wallonia is the south part of Belgium. People are in majority leftists (opposed to Flanders where people are more on the right). So I've imaginated that, with the (always possible actually) collapse of Belgium, Russia decided to give military support to Wallonia, furnishing armament (helicopters, aircrafts, tanks...)
-
Historic part is excellent :-razz :-clap :-clap Maybe name would be Валонская Република :))
-
Now the "what-if" aspect is clear! Great looking unit!!!
-
Thank you my friends 😉
-
Looks great !

After having airbrushed gloss varnish again, I've applied Tamiya black panel liner
-
Beautiful!!!

Thank you my friends
