OK guys, I open the topic with the kit I've finally choosen: the Rafale Marine from Revell at 1/144th scale. Sure a tiny one, but don't mind in any way that it will be a fast build... There are many parts, that are very fine, and a good result will ask for some work...
First phase done: all parts removed from the sprues, and some of them glued.
-
Nice start mate- I will join somehow :(
-
I'm following, but not joining - don't have anything in my stash from this category, and want first to finish all the work in progress (8+ models)
-
I'm in the same situation as Profa (only six projects unfinished, though)--and I haven't finished my June G.B. project yet......... :-paper :-roll
This looks like a very nice kit!
-
Finally!! :-jump :-jump :-love :-love :-love :-tri :-tri :-tri :-obey :-obey :-salut :-salut :)) :)) :-ok :-ok :-wave :-wave :-flo :-flo :-smey :-smey
I will join with Hasegawa F-15E 1/72 kit.
But,i will start build when i finish MiG-21, it means for 3 or 4 days.
First thing i must done,is rescribe all panels on kit,and try to find resin cockpit. If i don't,i will use decals for cockpit, which are given in the box.
Happy work! :-jump
-
Nice choice, Sall!
-
Only way to join this group build is to try to repair this kit. I get it two years ago from friend, some kid try to make it and did not make it...
-
Thanks Daniel! :-flo
Srecko,it think that it is great idea! I love :-love :-love :-love :-love :-love Rafale, and ,in this group build we have 2 of them! It is so nice!!! :-jump
Can you tell me something about kit? :-think
-
More than that, it's a "C" and not an "M". Excellent idea! The kit is nice (I own an exemplar) but you will have also to rescribe a lot, like Sall...
-
Well, what we have to do,it is not difficult. :))
-
To be honest I don't know anything about the kit but it look like I will search for drawings for re-scribing :(
-
Unfortunately kit I have miss several small parts so hardly that I can complete this...
-
:( :( :-wall :-wall
-
Unfortunately kit I have miss several small parts so hardly that I can complete this...
I can give you the mine if you wish... Or send you the missing parts...
-
Will talk with you about this :)
-
I get idea but don't know will you agree with me. It is possible to convert this kit into Yugoslav project 'Novi avion'. More info here:
http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=749
What do you think? Problem is that this never flew and no sample were ever built
-
That would be great idea Srecko. :-tri :-tri
I'm with you!
Novi avion was project by JNA,and it present small version of Franch Rafale.
I would like to see on our group build. It is so great idea!! :-tri :-tri :-tri
-
All right, lets see what others think ;)
-
Good idea; I have no objection. And once again, my kit is at your disposal...
-
All right- I will try to do something with this what I have ;)
-
Hardly wait to see begin and progres on Novi Avion. When we can expect begin? :-think :-tri :-tri

Hope you'll be fit and well quickly...

-
Sounds like good documentation...
Good base for headache :(
-
:)) :))
Actually,no! ;)
For now, this goes excellent. I'm very satisfied. :-flo
There is one mistake, "DD" side have one mistake, but i will repair it tomorrow, with filler and acetone. :-flo
-
Nice...
-
Plastic bending work for making of rear fuselage.
-
This is soooo interesting!!! :-jump :-clap
-
These big surgical procedures are always an adventure for the builder, too! At first it looks like the whole process will be impossible, but after getting it to the stage where No.1 has it you begin to see the final shape coming into focus. It's really quite exciting to see the contours starting to appear.
-
Hard work but interresting one...
-
Thanks :)) Warp around rear ring :-danger
-
:-eek :-eek :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
"DD" side repaired! Now it is ok,and correct! :-ok
I moved to the wings. Works continuing tomorrow. ;)
-
Well done, Sall!
-
Reinforcing inside :)
-
So cool! :-clap
-
Surgery... ;)
-
Ha ha ha :))
-
White primer on my Rafale
-
:-ok
-
Good,good! ;)
-
After few days without progress, today i finished wings on both sides. ;)
-
And result is good mate :-clap
-
Thank you much! :-ok
I think that my skill is much better then on Hornet, and especially on Mirage III. :-flo
-
Well done!
-
Very precise, Sall.
-
Little progress! ;)
-
Little yes but very nice!
-
One more little step! :)) ;)
-
Very good mate :-ok I am not informed about this aircraft, I always thought that inside is light grey
-
Gooood!!!!
-
I found some photos, and it is dark grey.
-
About cockpit of F-15E...
Dark grey,almost black... ;)

-
Thank you for info mate :-ok
-
All for modeling colleague! :)) :-flo
-
Little progress today on re-scribering. Tomorrow continue! ;)
-
Good work, Sall!
-
Crisp!!!
-
There are some lines writen with pencil. I must to re-scribed it tomorrow. Part about engine is scribed, other lines are just lines.
I must to re-scribe the whole plane, then i will open some panels, and put inside some electronic ,witch is conected with radar. Will see how it look in the end! ;)
-
Hey guys! :-wave
On eye everything is the same as the previous picture. But ... The whole back of the upper side of the re-scribed, in contrast to the previous image, where only back part of engine was re-scribed,everything else was lines drawn in pencil. :-flo
Sorry for bad picture. :-wall My camera is not at home,so i made pics from my phone, but i'm limited with size of the image at 200kb. This one have only 71kb,but in next level of quality which is much better it takes 380kb. :-bat Better pictures you can expect in Sunday. ;) :-flo
Works continue tomorrow. I hope... :-flo
-
You make really nice progress and maybe good that you make brake, everybody need to charge its energy ;)
-
You're right. I filled my batteries, found inspiration, and now I can work nicely. :-flo
I need that break. I have lost my inspiration, but now... Now i'm perfect! ;)
Thank you for your comment. :-flo
-
Well done...
-
Good to see forward movement on this GB! I'd been thinking about this one just yesterday.
Glad to hear your batteries are recharged, Sall, and we await your next update.
-
Thank you mates! ;)
Now,i'm cool! :-cool
More progress... :-ok First image is my work from 3 days ago(my camera is finally with me. :-tri ),and second image is my work today. I drew a line with pencil. These lines i have to re-scribe tomorrow. ;)
:-wave
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Build is growing :-ok
-
Here i am... :)) :-wave
Will see what is next.. Maybe to re-scribe nose of upper side tomorrow or in next few days... :-flo
-
Good to see further work ongoing, Sall!
-
Your re-scribing work is impressive!!!
-
Small progress... Drawn lines with pencil, tomorrow scribing. :-ok First 3 images.
4th image are some decals,i bought it for 2 euros. :-ok
5th and 6th image is resin seat ACES II. I had plans to use it in A-10A,but since i have PE parts for A-10A,i will use this seat for F-15E,for the first pilot. ;)
-
Draw lines again, they are not parallel as I could see.
-
You are doing a LOT of hard work on this one! Keep on with the updates as you can.
-
@Srecko
It is only approximately work, just to see what i have to do... ;)
Right now i'm taking scriber in my hand and start working. More update later. :-ok
-
As we say in French: "travail de Bénédictin" (you're working as harder than a Benedictus monk)...
-
Hahahaha :))
-
Hahahahahaha... :)) :-flo
-
Here i am... :-flo
This is work from yesterday and today morning. ;)
Pics 1st to 5th work from yesterday. Top side od fuselage is fully re-scribed. :-tri :-jump
But... :-kr As you can see,on 1st and 3rd pic there are some mistakes. :-wall -On 1st pic circle is not in right place. It must be in center of this rectangle, and mine is escaped little left. :-wall -On 3rd pic you can see that axis of symmetry for this rectangle on the nose is not in center. All of this rectangle are escaped little left. :-wall (As you can see in my head everything escape little on left. :-razz :)) )
I can not live with that. Soooo... Today i get up earlier that usual, and try to fix this mistakes. I use mixture filler and acetone, and fill this re-scribed lines.
Pics 6th and 7th are first coat of filler mixture on the nose. ;) Then i sand that with sandpaper different granulation(240,600,800).
Pic 8th is second coat of filler mixture. ;)
Pics 9th,10th,11th-everything is sanded. :-tri Now i wait that everything dry well, then i will re-scribe those panels again. Hope, this time without mistakes. :-flo
More update latter. :-flo
-
Nice work, although I think you apply too much putty...
Now you have to be careful since it's possible that filled putty is going to crumble under scriber...
-
I can just salute to you and your extra effort!!! Take care and I am sure this will be great build!!
-
It looks great so far.A small advice for you sall.Try not to engrave the panle lines this deep. They will ruin the overall look of the kit.
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Finally top side is finished. :-tri This days i will start work on bottom. ;)
Thank you friends for your nice words. It means me a looot! :-red
I will listen your advice about deep panels, and i will try to change it on bottom. ;)
-
I have prepared bottom side for scribing. I sand bottom with sandpaper,600 and 800 granulation. ;)
These days more progress. :-ok
-
More progress.. :-jump
Lines are drawn on the lower part, the bottom side of the fuselage. ;)
These days will be scribing. :-ok
-
Impressive how hard you are working on this kit!
-
+1 with Srecko
-
Yes, you're really making this a maximum effort build!
-
More progress.. :-jump
Today panels are less deep than on the top side of fuselage. ;) :-flo
-
:-ok
-
You are a VERY patient model builder, Sall. It takes a lot of fortitude to do what you're doing. :-salut
-
I like it.Just be more patient and don't prees that much on the plastic. Those panels lines are a little deep so I sujest that you use less force and a metal sheet as a guidline. You are doing a fine job :)
-
Finally some time for modeling. :-jump
I re-scribe vertical tail parts. ;)
1st and 2nd pic is before and after removing part from frame.
3rd pic is after sanding both parts.
4th and 5th pic is after re-scribing.
Sorry for VERY bad photos. Lighting in my new apartment is bad for making good photos. :-wall I hope to rectify this in the future. :-think
There is only to finished re-scribe of the upper part on bottom, and then moving to surgery. :-ok :))
-
Carry on! :-ok :-clap :-tri
-
Soon or later you will start assembly this :-ok A lot of work which can be done fast and easy...
-
I continue scribing.. ;) Hope finish tomorrow, and start surgery this days. :))
I can't post pics, becouse, from some reason, the internet in my house don't work. :-wall :-kr Hope that will be solved tomorrow, during the day. :-/
-
Well, that isn't very much good, but the lack of internet will give you more time to work on this!
-
No problem...
-
I put kids to sleep so i finally find time for modeling... :)) Joke!! :-joke
Tonight i will not sleep until i finish re-scribing... For now i'm here... I scribe one line which don't need to be there. I can't live with that,so i use putty and acetone, and fill that line. Going forward, night is long... :)) :-tri
Ps. Until now, i haven't solved problem about light in my house,soo... But pics are better then previous time. ;)
-
I finished finally!!! :-tri :-tri :-jump :-jump
Now is 03:50 AM in our time, and i have to get up in 06:20, also i will not go into bed before 04:20(I have to take a shower :-flo ) ... :-dal
Now, FINALLY i'm going to surgery-open some panels, and made them. :-flo
But now, i'm going into my bed! ;)
:-wave
-
Extra work mate :-ok
-
Looks good, but you did not give yourself much time for sleep!!!!!!!!!
Ernie
-
It is important that i finished re-scribing. ;)
Thanks guys! :-flo
-
Congratulations on the all-nighter! Staying up most of the night looks like it was worthwhile.
-
:-ok
...But take care of your eyes with artificial light...
-
Thanks mates! :-flo :-flo
You are right Daniel. I must take care on my eyes! ;)
-
I am back in game with this French fighter. You have see it shown some time before as my last acquisition and it is nice chance to make kit now. Very easy to built this kit, it will take just few days to complete it.
-
Nice and fast progress. As i see you start build it.. ;) Any pic of cockpit? :-think
-
I did not touch cockpit, it can be attach at the same end so I will take images in this step. My problem is that I am under pressure of orders and I am afraid that I can not take much time to work with camera but I will for sure arrange material for us here :)
-
:-ok
-
As well all inside is black and dark grey, hard that any details can be noted but at least I try to make fast match.
-
As i see, seat is not bad at all... ;) I can't see detailes in cockpit... :-/
-
As I said all is in gark shades but also I did not take attention on light :(
-
:-ok
-
Little fade out...
-
Preparing for primer and paint... :-ok
-
Ready for decals, it is on my desk now ;)
-
Great progress!
-
What paint you use? Humbrol _ _ ? :-think
-
No, Gunze Sangyo :))
-
Is it classic black or some very, very dark gray/black..? :)) Whatever that means. :))
-
I have hand brush extra dark grey and medium grey and sand it down, as well original aircraft have fade out surface.
-
:-ok Waiting for pics!! :-razz
-
Good work so far!
Primož
-
In the morning more images ;)
-
Here you are ;) I did not make perfect match to the worn out look of this machine but hope this can be accepted somehow :-red Sorry for blur on first image :(
-
Looks great for my eyes!!! :-ok :-ok :-ok
-
Looking good! :-clap :-clap
Maybe you could paint missiles in white or light gray with blue or yellow rings, but now is late... And it is not soo important! ;) I like it!
-
Thank you for comments friends :-ok Sall- missiles are black, I paint it as on image.
-
I never see that missile in black color. But... Pic is pic... ;)
-
Yes, pic is pic...

Ernie
-

Srecko,in some hand you are right ;) This days, i can't sleep before 4,5, sometimes even 06:00AM... :-dal I don't know why,but... So i use that time to work on models! :))
-
You can be creative in any time as I see :))
-
:))
-
Ta-daaa!!!
Back with this group build; I have received what I was waiting for to continue my 1/144 Rafale Marine: the detail set from RetrokiT, that is really gorgeous, and a decal sheet.
Resin is actually "in the bath" (water + wash product); I will resume the build in the next few days.

Oh, no problem I'm zen again! It's not the first kit that finish in such a way; nor the last one I'm afraid...
I will begin soon my 1/72 Rafale C; but this one will be a "what-if"...
-
Not worry mate!! :-ok :-flo
What 1/72 Rafale will you make? :) Hobby boss or something else? :) :-tri
-
Hobby Boss. Very nice kit of the Rafale C.
-
Very nice kit, i agree, but closer to 1/76, not to 1/72!! :(
-
Very nice kit, i agree, but closer to 1/76, not to 1/72!! :(
Sure? Anyway, it's not a problem...
-
I'm not 100% sure., but i heard that... ;) Can you check this with the drawings when you start building, to be 100% sure? :-flo
-
Will do that my friend.
-
Thank you!! :-flo
