Ju-87B Airfix 1/48

Here is my latest project on the workbench, the Airfix Ju-87:

This is a fair kit, not high-tech nor completely devoid of detail. The molding does require quite a lot of cleanup as most parts have more flash along the edges than we are becoming accustomed to nowadays. Certainly not the worst kit, but more like the kits of old.

More photos later, though no pictures of the early stages were taken. I'm still deciding on a paint scheme....... :-help

Last releases from Airfix does not match as their older kits, I hope that same assembly will be easy

This really built fairly easily so far as fit goes. It certainly doesn't meet the standard of the new Airfix Bf-109E (which you know I love!) but it will still be acceptable. The old Monogram Ju-87D is a bit better to construct but the Airfix interior has more detail on the sidewalls.

No "in progress" photos on this one, but a straightforward out-of-box build. Some filler required and ready for paint, then underside color sprayed:

When work good match kit direct from box, there is sometimes no time for camera, simply hands work so fast ;)

RLM 71 applied to top surfaces, this one will be in standard Luftwaffe camouflage....

Hello,
Monogram kit is better to construct but very inaccurate.
The Airfix Ju 87 B is far better in accuracy.

I agree. Interesting that some people complain bitterly about the rivets on the Airfix kit, but it is more accurate since the real airplane used button-head rivets, too!

Sorry that I haven't updated this, but the Ju-87 has been done for a while now. I really enjoyed building this and there is good potential here for a highly detailed machine if one wanted. Everything (except the drop tanks, I used a set of Airfix Bf-109E tanks) including the decals, is from the Airfix box:
