Well, this one needs a proper introduction. I think you all know Nicolas Cage's movie War Lord, and it has a sceene in Africa when they land an An12 in the desert full of weapons. Well this actually happened but with a few differences,it wasn't An 12 it was IL 76 qnd not africa but on a little sport airfield near Dubai UAE.
Friend of mine who's in Dubai a few years now asked me to build this aircraft for him. The kit is Trumpeter 1/144 scale.

First I located all the doors and hatches on the fuselage which needs to be cutted out as well as a few small windows which needed to be drilled out, trumepeter gives them as part of fuselage in solid plastic.
-
And good timing since a life-extension was just announced for some of the Il-76 fleet!
-
Good details for that scale
-
Yes, it's a good kit for it's scale, you can build it out of box with a few miner issue
Since I had to open the door and some hatches I had to make some interior details where it will be seen
-
interior painted
-
Blue? Interesting ;)
-
Love these Soviet machines!
-
Yes, blue, interesting but that's the color.....
Scratchbuild nose wheel bay ( as it later turned out this was a waste of time, nothing is visible, but I know it's there ) and the start on the engines
-
:-ok
-
Some cockpit details had to be made, during the time lots of things got stolen from this bird, so what left in it is still visible, I used Evergreen styrene and some photo-etched leftovers for this purpose.
-
Splendid details in that scale :-eek :-eek :-ok :-obey :-clap :-clap
-
Excellent!
-
Thank you friends !
The start of the surfaces on the fuselage/wings. A lot of putty and sanding was needed to get it right. The next step was to identify the surfaces which will be cutted out or need a some sort of intervention and the start of heavy duty work.....
-
Looking great
-
:-ok
-
Thanks !
First the conopy was panted in interior color, but on the outside, when finished looking thru the glass the effect will be enough. And more heavy duty work continued, riveting, making the worn out panels on the wing, cuttng out moving surfaces, adding some details, etc..... More to follow

next set of mages

Hello,
Even in 1/144 scale that must be a big plane. In aby any case you do a good job on it.
Jicéhem :-wave
-
Waouw... Good job!
-
Lots of fairings on those wings!!
-
Thank you all !
Yes it's a big plane even in this scale, fuselage 330 mm wingspan 350 mm, larger than some 1/48 scale kits.....
The painting and weathering started.....
-
:-ok

Wheels and engines

Nice small update and bring more life
