Hobby Boss 1/72 P 39N Airacobra
« on: May 25, 2009, 09:58:32 PM »
Here’s my most recently built model – Hobby Boss 1/72 P 39N Airacobra. It represents a Soviet plane from the Lend-Lease programme.
I tried to render realistic exhausted plane – a lot of dust, scratches and oil stains, but without unrealistic overshaded panel lines (which looks to me like a cartoon effect).
Hobby Boss model is nice – easy assembling, nice engraved panel lines and realistic shape.
But there’s a serious error: although the model’s nose is filled with a lot of weight, the plane is tail sitter. Simply, the tail is too heavy for tricycle configuration. So, I corrected it by gluing wheels to the ground.

Here are pics.

Hi Samuraj77,  :-salut

Very nice build. I agree totally about the rendering of the panels.   :-ok Overshaded panels are not realistic.

Cheers,  :-wave

Heh, considering the fact that both I and Samuraj love used planes, this one really hits the bullseye! :-ok
Nicely done :-clap, although I'd make those exhaust stains more visible, in accord to the rest of the dirt...
