Lets start this what I get yesterday. Before I get this kit I have seen on some web sites (or maybe forums), that this kit is inaccurate and so on... So my first image shown fuselage on resized blueprints and I have see very good shape and size of the kit. I see no problem at all so I am wonder what drawings other use before give any credit of the kit. If any of you have additional info this would be nice. Second ugly image is made with to strong light, I will prepare later better one and this show resin as well etched parts painted in basic green color. It have inside two etched parts sets, one is pre painted and another not. I use Gunze Sangyo color for this as well t can be used without primer.
More works later...
-
Nice detailes there. :-ok
-
I'm impatient to see more... ;)
-
Thank you friends, more coming tomorrow ;)
-
This looks great!
-
Here you are better image of resin and metal parts and later I will continue work on this, so more images coming.
-
Very little progress on subject :(
-
:-ok
-
Progress in work on cockpit ;)
-
Very nice painting work!
-
Looking good! ;)
-
Here is my progress on cockpit and also preparation of wings and fuselage for further work. I need to cover it with black primer and then sand it with 800 grit sanding paper to make flat surface and make panels visible. Now will be more easy to continue.
:-wave
-
Cockpit is great!!! :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Yes, excellent work!
-
Thanks friends :) I have some problems with cooling radiators, I can not find enough of good images but hope I will solve this problem.
-
If they're the same as the Typhoon I might be able to help with the radiators. The big problem will be finding the photos I have. I'll start checking now.
-
Thank you mate :)
-
Very nice work! Looks really good
Ernie

Thank you mate :-ok
-
Found the magazine, No.1. Two emails on the way!
-
Thank you mate :-clap
-
I hope the pictures are of some use. I'll continue looking as I still think I have one from dead-ahead like the Mk VI pic I sent you.

Here's a link to a photo of Kermit Weeks' V--sorry, no radiator installed yet:

Here is NV778 at Hendon--good shot of the radiator, but no oil cooler! :-wall:

All links are great but now I have more doubts then answers. This image is one of confusing:
Problem is that it show depression in the middle and this is one of variation seen on Tempest. I have to find Clostermann machine, and focus on his particular sample.
-
Yes, that depression is where the oil cooler (the round central element that's most visible in photos) will sit. The cooler sits forward of the radiator face by approximately six or eight inches. Here are two of the photos that will hopefully add to my explanation.
In the first picture you can see the round fairing that ducts air into the oil cooler with an angled piece above it that leads upwards and forward. This is a return line that leads from the front of the engine to the radiator front face, terminating just above the oil cooler.
In this uncowled photo the oil cooler is not installed, exactly as in the picture you posted of the Hendon airplane. The return line is visible in this picture, leading to its location above the missing cooler and its fairing.
Clostermann's airplane was a Tempest V, so it will have this exact system on it. The VI moved the oil cooler from the radiator "beard" opening to the wing roots.
Sorry if I'm making it more confusing. Perhaps take a few photos of the kit parts and we can talk about what you have to work with. ;)
-
This is it- will do it as on last image :) Thank you :-ok
-
I think the uncowled photo may have been the confusing aspect of this. The round fairing sticks out quite a bit and it becomes unclear what's going on in there!
-
I am looking forward to seeing this one finished.
-
Finally solution :-danger My doubt was made by fact that two engines were used, Napier Sabre Va and Napier Sabre II. Difference is big and as well Eduard provide mesh for model II this mean that I will do this one. Best part of the game is that I will have to use mixed method to make this section and this have to be made as well this is wide open and all inside is visible. First at all I have cut original plastic part no. 20 and remain to use just top part. Bottom and rear have to be upgraded and for this I use epoxy putty, well known Miliput White :-razz One image show piece of plastic and lower visible is epoxy radiator. After it complete harden, I will make all surface structure, front will be Eduard mesh and rear will be on my own. One of the thing I have to do is the top wall and coolant pipe and there si nice place to use Albion Alloys tube.

Can't wait to see all that! :-jump

You burden yourself with a huge project but I now that at the end there will be only delight.
Great work so far!

Thank you friends ;)

Build goes smooth with exceptions of landing gear box. It look like i need additional sanding to make it fit. Lines on last image point where is cockpit box hit the gear box

Going good!!

Hi mate, :-salut :-salut
I arrive too late on your post... :-red
The plane you have presented (NV 724) joined 3 Squadron only in August 1945. It's likely he never flew it and the plane was used only for portraying the ace...
Clostermann's two last operationnal planes were respectively NV 994 (two kills on 20 April 1945 (duration : from 19.30 to 21.05) and SN 222. He flew some missions with the latter on 3 (5.50 to 7.00 and 15.40 to 16.40), 4 (6.40 to 8.10 and maybe 15.00 to 16.05) and 7 May 1945 from 10.30 to 12.50.
From Hawker archives the Eduard Tempest V is a little too short but it's not worth correcting this shortcoming. The two most important inaccuracies of the kit are the wingroots ressembling the ones of the Typhoon (too thick) and the outline of fin and its too thick leading edge which actually was as a razor blade.
Cheers,
Jicehem

Thank you very much for info mate. Your remarks are for sure useful for all those who plan to build this kit.
