I have received my box of that kit, that I will begin in the next few days.
First impressions is: amazing!!! So little parts, but so fine and well-detailed and a splendid decal sheet!
The box contains two kits. Will build one, and reserve the second one for decals to come... ;)
-
I'm glad that we will watching this!!! :-jump Can't wait!! :-jump
-
It look great mate!
-
Not really hard work, but I've begun to remove the parts from sprue. At first regard, fitting seems great and the parts are really splendid!!!
-
It look easy and fast to built ;)
-
I'm surprised Eduard don't release a 1:72 MiG-21 series?
-
It look easy and fast to built ;)
I hope I can build faster than for my Hellcat... And yes, looks to be an easy build. I'm impressed by the quality of that tiny things...
-
Good Daniel! ;) It is very good kit. This is 1/144,sooo... This is excellent!!
David Zvezda MiG-21Bis 1/72 is excellent,so no need for some other product in that scale. ;) Also Zvezda have MIG-21PFM in 1/72,also excellent kit. Revell had MiG-21 F-13,also beautiful kit,but hard to find. Maybe on e-bay. ;)
-
I have the bis version by Zvezda, might go for the PFM. Revell should reissue their F-13 though :(
-
PFM is also hard to find. Try on ebay for both. ;)
-
Be prepared for SMT in same scale in January :))
-
It will be great!! ;) Maybe that will be my first kit in 1/114 . :-flo

???
-
1/144. :-flo
-
Interesting change mate :)
-
1/144 always seems a compromise, but its a good way to have a collection if space is limited.
-
Now that the Hellcat is finished, I can work on all my MiG's!!!
I've removed the parts from sprue, chosen the decos and the armament for each aircraft.
Decos: one will be East German, with open canopy; the second one will be Russian (with closed canopy)
The parts are very fine and tiny. So tiny that I've broken the canopy of the "Russian"... Reparation was made of course but it's slightly visible (not too much given the size) - I have to insist of the fact that Eduard is not responsible, I'm guilty...
To be noted that the nose antenna is provided in two exemplars (four for two kits). Good idea because to remove it from sprue asks for attention and patience (I've not broken those antennas; having broken one canopy some minutes ago let me very careful) ;)
-
This is very small, very small!!!
-
This is very small, very small!!!
It's the case you realise that you have BIG fingers... :)
-
:)) :))
Nice progress!! ;)
-
Thank you SAll, I hope to go further during the week...
-
After some days very busy at home, I have had time today to airbrush white as primer
-
:-ok
-
This is nice. You work parallel on to same kit, different camouflages and markings, but you will finished them in same parion and it is cool! Go ahead! ;) :-ok
-
Thank you!
A little progress today; I've airbrushed the interior color. I followed the instructions from Eduard: 60% Gunze H25 + 20% H26 + 20% H35
-
Good! ;)
-
...And really fun to build! :)
-
Huh... January, who will start GB for this month, I am a bit tired to start anything
-
Give me few minutes! ;)
-
Very littl eprogress today: some black touches applied... :-red
-
:-ok
-
Thank you!
Some work today:
First, the tapes on the canopy were removed and replaced by other ones; I made a mistake (the protuberance on the canopy haves to be painted)
Then, masking of the fuselage interior, for next painting phase
Then, airbrushing of Neutral Grey
And finally, a little bit of green...
-
Great job mate!
-
Good! :-ok
-
Excellent!
I see my "radome green" is near to the same shade as yours. That was a hard one for me to mix up from the paints I could find here.
-
Thank you all!
Not so much time for modeling today; it was a hard day at the office...
First, if I decided to build that kit out-of-the-box, I must say that I was intriguated by the fact Eduard ask for painting in Gunze H308 (grey). So I verified on their site, the instructions for their 1/48th scale kit that recommends H26 green... I preferred to use H26.
I have also placed a drop of the cockpit interior color on the protuberance of the canopy from the kit I will build "open"
I have assembled the instrument panel on the floor
A little bit of Boltgun Metal on the train
And, finally, grey on the seat.[
-
Better not to say how the small parts is this... :))
-
Tiny, tiny, tiny... ;)
-
Agree... This is crazy for work! :))
-
Lot of little actions today:
First, airbrushing of steel; then paintbrushing of grey in the front wheel compratment
Placing of the cockpit elements
The nose cone
Gluing of the half fuselages
Placing of the seat
Interior of wheel compartments
Assembling fuselage/wings
Ailerons
Canopies are placed
Armament supports under the wings
And my "personal putty" where needed.
When I made dry fitting tests, the cone fitted well in the fuselage without any jointure. The simple thickness of the paint provoked such a jointure...
I have also decided not to build a Russian aircraft but a Czech (modern camo) one; just because I'm awaiting for the SMT combo box and this last one includes Russian aircrafts only... So, a Czech will add a little bit of variety ;)
-
The production line progresses!
-
Wonderful!!!
-
Good job! :-clap
-
Thank you mates! :)
-
Yesterday was: "Sanding day" :-green
-
I call it 'Perfection day' regarding how you smooth the surface :-clap
-
I call it 'Perfection day' regarding how you smooth the surface :-clap
Thank you!
I used Flexifile and then two sanding paper (medium and then soft)
-
Today, Vallejo putty and then I've begun the masking phase. No modeling tomorrow, so I hope to finish masking on friday (modeling day with my friend Pascal...)
-
Nice progress!
-
What a pleasure to watch this two kits grown together :-ok
-
Nice mate! :-ok
-
Thank you!
-
I have finished masking and have glued the antennas...
-
You are masking master :-ok
-

-
Not a funny stage, but so useful ;)
And you have to do that... :-roll
-
White primer airbrushed.
I have used my Evolution airbrush; more comfortable than the Badger.
-
White MiGs... :)) :)) ;)
-
I have also Gunze White Base but need to get some workhorse airbrush for application :(
-
Little progress with emerald green.
-
Nice shade of green mate :) This will be a bit tricky to protect small patch on wing leading edges, I guess
-

Normally it will be easy, Eduard giving some masks for that...

Problem solved! :)
-
Oopppss... sorry :(
-
I've airbrushed white to alter the excess of green paint; then airbrushing of steel
-
Is this steel color possible to polish?
-
Is this steel color possible to polish?
No I don't think, it's Gunze one... I have Agama metal paints that can be polished, but I find the kit is too tiny to put that paint on it (you have to put the paint with tissue or Q-tip)
-
All right, thank you for info.
-
Nice... :-clap
-
Thank you!!!
This time, silver...
-
Nice shade :)
-
Nice! :-clap
-
Thank you! ;)
-
I have airbrushed Gunze H417 for the German MiG; and H305 for the Czech one
-
No we have game and with pleasure will monitor how you will make that camouflage on so small kits :-ok
-
;)
-
Yes, it was hard enough to do the camo in 1/48! Yours will be fun to watch.
-
:-ok
-
Before masking, I've airbrushed Pébéo matt varnish on the Czech MiG-21...
-
Other one?
-
Other one?
For the other one the color used was matt one, so no need to matt varnish it...
-
All right ;)
-
To see only one was a little bit disturbing, isn't it? ;)
-
Ha, maybe :))
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap
-
:-ok
-
Masking day... :-green
-
Very good!!
-
Going well.. ;)
-
More than two hours of work...
-
I guess so, small and sensitive kit
-
Yes, those tiny kits are jewels!!!
-
Very nice!
-
Thank you Scott!
Today I've airbrushed Gunze H57 light grey on one panel of the Czech aircraft (by mistake I airbrushed first the wrong panel... Not a problem of course) and Gunze H52 on the German one.
-
Cool! :-clap :-clap
-
What a great work!!!
-
Thank you! ;)
-
Today, matt varnish applied on glossy paints...
-
This sound like very good approach to the final stages?
-
This sound like very good approach to the final stages?
I hope to finish both aircrafts very soon... Let say in ten days???
-
Ten relaxed days to work it is just pleasure. Plastic kits on desk, glass of good wine, nice view on winter landscape through the window, music in background... Way of life :))
-
Totally agreed but please replace wine with good belgian trappist beer ;)
-
Yes! I want to say that but in the moment my memory stuck and could not remember name (I know it sound like one kind of cheese)
-
;)
-
Masking session...
-
Cockpit canopy look like no easy to do :-dal
-
No problem, it's just the tape that I've cut a little bit too large...
-
"Tape camouflage" looking cool!! :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you mate!
-
Light grey on Czech MiG and dark green on German one... Some minor corrections needed for this one but nothing important.
-
Excellent result mate! :-clap
-
I really LOVE those little kits... Eduard makes great job here!
-
They are beauty mate :-clap
-
Thank you! ;)
-
German -21: all the masks are removed; the minor painting corrections are made. Next step will be Pébéo gloss varnish.
Czech -21: masking tape applied; ready for painting of the dark grey
-
Great work, wonderful :-ok
-
Excellent!
Having just finished the 1/48 version of the DDR airplane makes me really appreciate your tiny one. These two are certainly turning into jewels in your hands!
-
Thank you mates! ;)
-
Progress on the Czech one...
-
Very good :-ok
-
Thank you my friend!
-
Yes,excellent progress on both!! I like it much!! :-clap :-clap

Gloss varnish (Pébéo) before decal setting
-
:-clap :-ok
-

Next are decals! :-jump
-
Hope you will be happy, Sall ;)
...here are the decals!
They came smoothly, absolutely no problem to place them on the aircrafts. Great and relaxing moment...
-
I just can imagine how brilliant review you will make from this build :-clap
-
;)
-
They are look very nice with decals mate! :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you!!!
Yes, decals are very nice and fine.
Today I've airbrushed Pébéo gloss varnish. Next step will be oil wash...
-
Oil wash...
-
Look like big scale!!!
-
Very nice Daniel! :-clap
-
Thank you!!! It's really jewels, once again...
-
I have airbrushed Pébéo matt varnish, then time to glue the little parts (wheels, wheel bays, external stores) and... FINISHED!!!
That was a real funny and enjoyable build. I like thos tiny birds. Eduard realised a stunning, amazing job. See the photos: my 1 euro coin is the only thing that can prove that kits are so "minis"... They have a terrific look and they are like real MiG's are!!!
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Fantastic!
-
Thank you! ;)
-
Wow! Splendid!! :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Very Very nice! :-ok They do look as good as larger scale kits, which is often not the case with these smaller kits. You have done a great job on what look to be great kits!
