Here's another sweet little Eduard jewel that was on great discount! I had no strength to resist another I-16..... :-jump

Just a few minutes and the wing was assembed and fuselage trial fitted. The first Eduard I-16 I built didn't fit perfectly due to a slightly warped fuselage half. This one is perfect and all slides together beautifully:

You will enjoy that build mate ;)

Nice kit I must say!
-
Nice kit, indeed, but I've changed the title of this thread to reflect some change in my plan.
It turns out that the kit, as packaged by Eduard, is really more of a Type 24 than the 18. I base this on the radio compartment door and right side cockpit entry hatch. These were not (usually, at any rate) found on the Type 18 according to the research I've been doing.
Changing to a 24 also gives me some more flexibility in markings choices, and I intend to revamp the whole project to reflect this change.

Lest everyone think I no longer spend any time at my bench, here is some progress on the little I-16. Nothing special here, just a great fitting kit..... One thing I did do is replace the Eduard engine. This isn't very detailed at all, nor is it really that visible in the close-fitting cowl. However, I didn't want to build a set of shutters for this one so I took an old Monogram B-17G engine and modified it slightly.

It look like easy to convert, good idea!
-
Still, not much is to be seen in there!

Here is the completed I-16. Again, this Eduard kit is such a pleasure to build. Just a little filler on a few seams and the replacement engine, otherwise it is right from the container. The national insignia are from the Eduard sheet, the numerals I made myself:

And one photo of the two relaxing builds together.

Excellent work!

Hi,
Very good looking. The result indeed of an excellent work.
Jicehem :-wave

I'll simply add this next I-16 to the existing thread since it is exactly the same kit with different boxing. Again this is the excellent Eduard Weekend Edition that has been in my storage for some time:

No sense in boring everyone with the buildup--it went together beautifully and is almost ready for primer:

Za Stalina :-ok

:-ok
You give me the envy to re-build some I-16...
-
It's a little jewel! This one is specifically for reviewing the SAC landing gear set that I've had for some time now.
No.1, the decal sheet is quite nice but I'm doing an alternate marking on this one.
Daniel, I've been getting some envious feelings about building a Spitfire since you and Srecko are both working on them! :-love

Coffee is brewed :-paper and I decided to make this primer day:

Nicely done!

Thank you, friends!
This kit was really a chance for me to use the excellent SAC landing gear enhancement set, and the gear worked perfectly. The balance of the build was typical of these little Eduard jewels--great fun and little work! However, when I was removing the masking tape from my windscreen I broke it right down the middle......... :-wall :-wall :-wall The red stars on this are from the Eduard decal sheet and I hand-masked the numerals on the tail. My photo of the real airplane shows it was damaged after relatively little use judging from the lack of weathering and still glossy paint finish.
