It seems a shame I've waited so long to build one of these Eduard Gustavs so I'm starting this Weekend kit tonight. It's quite a nice offering!
-
I'am join the force :)) Also Eduard Weekend edition, my sample will be Barkhorn machine, true top ace of Luftwaffe. It will be energized by three Brassin sets.
-
Start with cockpit parts....
-
I just love the Gustav's, looking forward for this !
-
Oh, this is a good idea, No.1--it will give contrast between the Weekend Editions with no upgrades and your build with Brassin! I'll use only what is in the kit with no embellishment! My sample will be the White 9 kit decals from JG27.
-
Thank you, you give inspiration ;) One point, maybe you know but I did not take attention- this central frame in rear cockpit canopy is inside and in cockpit color. I make mistake on some build and paint it externally :-red :-wall
-
Excellent start anyway :)
-
Work on cockpit, complex work but pleasure
-
On the Weekender, cockpit is partially assembled and all areas have gotten their RLM66. I've found the parts fit is very nice so far and the build relaxing.
-
:-ok
-
Work today and will continue later. Impressive number of details and great number of parts
-
Beautiful!
-
Thanks :))
-
Lots less parts on my side, but the kit goes together well. This one has a decal for instrument panel and an engraved panel. I constructed both for comparison but used the engraved one in the kit. I was really rather impressed with the seatbelt decals--they went on easily and look pretty good. If I had cut some .005 styrene into strips and applied the belt decals to them the belts would have a 3D look to them.
Once I started to assemble the major parts the fit was likewise quite nice, with putty needed in only a few places.
-
Result is also good :)
-
:-ok
-
Work on cockpit almost completed, what remained is in last stage of Bf 109 assembly to put one rod which keep cockpit canopy in open position.
-
Good progress! Mine will not see any progress today as I have other appointments after work. Maybe tomorrow night I can start again.
-
Take your time, this is our pleasure at least, we are not in work camps :))
-
This is for today
-
Good work !
-
:))
-
Another Brassin set included
-
Flaps down ;)
-
superb !
-
Somewhat in the same place on the "stripped-down" version:
-
Good, we keep rhytham ;)
-
Yes, pretty close. I'd like to send it to the paint booth tonight but we have another appointment first. Probably not until the weekend.
-
Brassin landing gear included and ready for paint :))
-
Primer day here, and the other parts are prepped for RLM02.
-
:-ok
-
splendid !
-
So, my machine will be the one flown by Barkhorn but before go into main camouflage painting, little break :-razz :-tri :-jump
-
Here I've painted the white theater markings last night and then the 76 this morning. The markings are from the kit decal sheet and are of this JG27 machine:
-
Nice choice :-ok
-
My part of work :))
-
Nice choice :-ok
It's strange how things come about--the old Otaki Gustav kit has always had Weiss 8 markings from the same unit and I never did build a kit with those decals. When Eduard announced this one I knew one day I would build it!
Oho!! Yours has those wonderful jagged color lines on it. I really enjoy peeling the masking off and seeing the 75/74 in that stairstep shape!!
-
I decided not to start the topside camo as the paint booth is too cold today. Okay to paint small parts, though, so the small bits are done.
-
Why don't you made one rocket stove for your work place? Small and efficient in heating. On my side kit is painted and ready for decals :))
-
excellent !
-
:))
-
I can't really heat my paint booth as it is in a corner of the garage where we keep the car and it is just too large to heat for so short a time as spraying a model. There aren't many days I can't paint, and this evening I started on the topside of mine.
Yours is looking good, mate!!!!
-
:-ok :-ok :-ok
-
Start work on decals :))
-
Love it!
-
Thanks :)) Decals is completed ;)
-
I expected to get mine at least up to clear coat, but other chores took more time. We even had a big hawk try to fly away with one of the neighborhood chickens! Luckily I scared it by coming out of the garage and the chicken seems alright except for missing some feathers......
First I made a new set of masks for the spine pattern that Regensburg used and then sprayed the 74/75. Next will be the typical Regensburg "tiger stripes".
-
excellent friends ! so nice to see this !
-
Thanks!
I had to change the wing root fairing paint last night after I found a couple of photos of Regensburg Gustavs. So, I didn't do the tiger stripe mottling but sprayed a little 76 instead.
-
Tonight I sprayed the tiger stripes in 74 and then attacked the mottling, using 75, that is evident on the photos of the real airplane. Once this was dry I sprayed the 02 patches ahead and behind the fuselage Balkenkreuz where earlier markings were painted over. Our temperature was 27C so cold was not a problem!!!
-
Last works on my side ;)
-
And completed :))
-
Splendid work, both of you ;)
-
Good job, No.1!
I've got mine in clear gloss now, perhaps some decals can go on tonight. I've been asked to work extra hours so no time during the day, unfortunately....
-
No.1 you did superb job, waiting for the second 109 to be done, so far looks excellent !
-
Started on the decals but ran out of time. Hopefully tomorrow evening it will be ready for inspection.
-
so far so good !
-
Decals finished and flat clear applied, now it's down to adding the landing gear, guns etc.
-
Excellent, Scott!
-
Thank you!
Mine was completed last night by adding exhaust stains and some dirt to the underside. It still needs a little work with pastels but here are a trio of photos.
I'll take some better pictures when the freezing rain stops!
-
:-ok
-
What a great finish!!! And thank you all for nice words, lets have beer :-ok :-razz :-love
-
superb !
-
We're finally enjoying some sun after welcome rain, so here are a few photos of the finished Weekend Edition. I found it a very nice and relaxing kit and the surface detail is so well done I feel like I could rivet it together!
-
Beautiful :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Yes, splendid!
-
