Douglas Skynight 1/48
« on: December 30, 2012, 01:38:06 PM »
This will be dream built and great return to the root. I like resin kits in simply reason that they offer something rare and not standard and they demand some building experience and skill. Kit we see here is Collect-Aire Model Douglas Skynight in 1/48 scale. This is rare kit and as I know company who make it is long time out of business.

Box is ver hard one and design of cover art is simple. Also instruction leaflet is simply and present exploded parts joining kit and it is not the one we seen today. Painting guide is also simple and decals is of excellent quality. The same parts are excellent quality and detailed. All of them are resin, only landing gear are white metal.

Very first step is painting interior in Gunze Surfacer.

By the way, do you have any close up images of cockpit and landing gear interior?

Hmm......I might have an old Wings or Airpower magazine with a special on this machine. This will be in my book storage area and might take a little time to find. :-wall

This will be a great build No.1, looking forward to your work on this one! Collectaire kits are cool and they offered many subjects that are still not avaliable any where else. I am lucky ot have a couple of their kits and look forward to the day when I build them.

Well, no.1 also still has Collect-Aire's 1/48 scale Bell P-59 Airacomet kit.
This would also be a real jewel when built!

It is very interesting that the Skyknight did not have ejector seats for the crew of two, but an escape tunnel between the two seats.
