The Blohm Voss BV ae607 is a German "paper aircraft" that existed only on drawings... But the look of that aircraft is IMHO stunning; so I've bought the kit some times ago.
-
It's short run; so some little parts are not as fine as possible as you can see here...
-
But the real problem is not short run: as is, the kit is simply unbuildable and can be put in the trashcan! :-wall
The left wheel bay comes under the cockpit. the wheel bay parts are deep ; you cannot place the cockpit interior if you use those parts. More than that, the cockpit parts are not well conceived : you can place the cocpkit (again) due to the particular shape of the fuselage (diagonal): see the result using all the kit parts
-
Well, I consider not to put the kit away but accept the challenge. :-help
I made new wheel bays from scratch that take less place in the kit interior. I will also completely scratchbuild the cockpit interior. As you can see, fitting is better now... Miliput was needed in the process
-
Looks like easy and fun to build :))
-
Nice subject !

Well... As we say in French : cela ne va pas ?tre un long fleuve tranquille (that will not be a long, quiet river)
-
Good words!!!
-
Thank you !
-
The air intake is not on my taste (too "short run", details not good) so I've decided To modify that : I shorten the part and put on the reduced part the air intake of a Messerschmitt 262 from Revell (from my spare parts). That asked for some reducing of the lower part of the fuselage
-
On the rear, the wheel bay don't fit; some extra work also needed. I must say I don't like the idea of that aircraft with such a disposal but no front wheel... Really boring...
-
Back to the cockpit, I found the solution for the consoles: I've placed the seat of the Me 262 and created new consoles with Evergreen. I've also replaced the pilot stick of the kit with the one of a Bf 109G from AZ Models...
-
So, without spare box, build impossible ;)
-
So, without spare box, build impossible ;)
Yes. But I think that the build is impossible if you don't modify lot of parts...
-
Engraving on the kit is too thin, so I have taken the time to make it more deep (the need for sand the ruguous plastic could erase the original engraving lines). Minor corrections done with Mr Surfacer 1000.
The wheel bay traps of the kit aren't nice on my taste; so I've scratchbuilded new ones...
-
Look better then original!!!
-
Superb mate !
-
Thank you friends
-
AK Real Colors Aluminium looks good. But I'm still bothered with that wheels on the rear, on each side of the engine... :-dal
-
What's problems with wheels?
-
Simply that I don't like that aircraft without a front wheel...
-
Assembling of the two half fuselages was not easy at all... As you can see with the hel of the arrows, some jointures are good but some aren't at all... Lot of putty will be neede I think...
Instrument panel of the kit replaced by a full scratch.
-
But you make it ;)
-
Seem like a lots of work to come, but great progress mate, like the instrument panel
-
Thank you friends. Yes, lot of work still coming...
-
I have used putty for the half fuselages and the air intake. But the "gun bay" don't fit correctly with that one ; so I've decided to remove them (putty again...) but to replace with an heavy armament underwings (parts coming from the Me 109G from AZ).
Missiles of the kit will be replace by two missiles from the Revell/Dragon Me P1101
-
I am looking for those missiles long time ago, to make kit of Fw 190 with this armament
-
Huh, lots of work mate, keep up the spirit !
-
Thank you !
The rams of the kit were nice but really thin; so thin that it's impossible to remove them out of the sprue without broking them. They are replaced with parts made from scratch.
Revell/Dragon missiles assembled.
Cockpit will be open; so I have to cut the canopy into three parts.
And finally I have detailed a little bit the cockpit consoles...
-
Note that X-4 missiles have red brown stabilizers

Thank you for the info my friend!
-
As said before, I don't like those little wheels on the rear...
Well, the kit is a "what-if" ; no prototype existed. I've decided that the engineers modified the aircraft giving her a front wheel !
So, new scratch work... :))
-
:-smey :-smey :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
;)
-
Door traps for the front wheel (full scratch)
-
Better then original made in BV!!!
-
Well, certainly better than RS Model :-help
-
Next : some cables added (very few). Then I've applied Tamiya Panel Liner that helps to verify that all is OK with engraving. Canards are glued. Pitot comes from the Me P1101 and I've decided not to use decals for the instrument panel but to create one with Evergreen
-
This with Evergreen will be interesting to see ;)
-
Evergreen is really useful I must say...
-
Evergreen is a great product, never failed. Nice progress mate
-
Thank you mate. I think the hard times are out now... Hope so!
-
Still progressing on that aircraft. First layer of grey revealed some imprefections ; putty was needed again
-
I hope that will be last layer :-razz
-
I hope that will be last layer :-razz
As it is not an easy kit : wait and see... ;)
-
Camo paint revealed another little default in the junction between air entry and fuselage... So I removed the paint and applied Mr Surfacer 1000. Next step : sanding and after, painting !
-
Tiny, almost invisible...
-
Tiny, almost invisible...
Yes indeed, but after all the work done to ameliorate the model, I can't let it with any minor default...
-
Camo painting done!
Now, I have to paint details like exhaust, position lights...
-
Smooth!!!
-
Thank you my friend. I'm using AK Real Colors paints
-
Looks great !
-
Thank you ! More progress soon I hope...
-
Details are painted with different mediums
-
Looks great !
-
Interesting effect, somehow silky
-
Thanks mates ;-)
-
Decals done and missiles painted :-green
-
Lovely :-razz
-
Impossible to remove the silvering from the code and squadron insignias... But I've found in my decals spare box a sheet from Eduard 1/144 MiG-21Bis that is perfect for my kit !
Looks better now...
-
What was reason for silvering? Bad decals or varnish?
-
What was reason for silvering? Bad decals or varnish?
Bad decals, too old...
-
No cure in this case
-
Looks nice !
-
Thank you friends!
Tamiya Black Panel Liner on undersurfaces
-
:-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you my friend
-
Same operation, upper surfaces
-
Look so attractive that can make wish to make few more of them :-ok
-
Well, to build one is enough... Except if you find kits of better quality of course!
-
looks superb !
-
Thank you my friend
-
Well, after the paneling time, I airbrushed P?b?o Matt Varnish, then used smoothly pastels. It was time to insert the cockpit elements, without problems. After that, I constated that the use of compound and then Klir gived the canopy an excellent transparency, without distorting the vision of the interior so I placed the canopy in closed position (that's what I prefer).
Time to glue the exhaust, missiles, guns, wheels and wheel doors... FINISHED! :-tri
This timle I WON :-bat against a very, very bad kit...
-
:-tri :-clap :-clap
-
;)
-
Superb !
-
Thank you my friend
