I'm going to revive this thread once again to post another variant--the first prototype.

I'm using a spare engine half from my old 1/72 S-3 kit that also provided the radiator bath for the Bf110B. The rocker box fairings on top are Eduard bombs from the Emil series. The kit is an old Academy/Hobbycraft one.

Lots of filler on this one! The hardest part was fairing in the rocker box fairings and took a lot of sanding/filling/sanding/filling/beer drinking! All the characteristic panel lines on the aft fuselage of a normal Bf 109 were filled too since the prototype had smooth sides.

On the wings the prototype had bulges on top to clear the tires, much as the later model G and K types. I used a set of spare bulges from the parts box and modified them to make them a little smaller.

It reminds me of an early P-40 in a collision with a Messerschmitt!

Sadly, I only had U.S. in the refrigerator....... And what I have is co-owned with a Molson in Canada, so all on our side of the pond!

I'm still sanding etcetera and keep finding new flaws each time.

Cockpit installed, wings joined. Now time to apply filler to the gaps on fuselage/wing joints and I'll finish the canopy parts. I'm using modified clear parts from the Zvezda Freidrich kit which provides early rounded pieces that are very close to what I need here.

They could be better, on a couple of these old Hobbycraft kits I didn't need filler between the wings and fuselage on top. This one isn't molded quite as good, maybe it is of the later series with a little mold shift.
