In parallel with the 1/48 Mirage 5 from Wingman, I'm beginning another one but at 1/72 scale from PJ.
New tooling kit with all the interpanels more discrete...

Mirage spirit possessed you :-love :-jump :-clap

My love... Simply my love...
-
looking forward to see it done !
-
I've assembled the wings and the fuselage. As I will use the "late" tail, I just had to use a little bit of Tamiya White Putty on the back of the fuselage.
Annoying was the fact that a bubble in the resin damaged the tail of her forward extremity. I've decide tu use the forward part of the "early" tail that I've cut at the good dimension. Will glue that very soon...
-
You put me on puzzle, now I will go to see what was early and late tail :))
-
😄
-
The resin tail was slightly curved so I put it in hot water to correct it. Then I glued the part in place and finally the little part from the early tail...
Putty (Miliput I think) will be needed now...
-
Just small gap, it's almsot perfect :)
-
Yes, not too hard...
-
fitted very nice, well done
-
Thank you.
Putty was needed; I've used Magic plastic putty and Vallejo putty. Little antennas in photoetch are in place.
-
All right, understand... will get one of this Vallejo putty, you did tremendous job with it :))
-
Both putties are excellent ones I must say...
-
After some control, I have to admit that putty was still needed...
-
I guess putty period is over now ;)
-
Well, for the time being...
-
well done so far, dont give up now, putty and sanding is boring but its the ( sad ) part of the hobby.....
-
Still busy with the PJ kit...
Little work but important one: the Mirages 5 "late" had a little part on the left side of the fuselage that is not present in the box kit...
Made with Evergreen.
-
I don't think that real Mirage 5 is detailed as your ;)
-
nice progress !
-
Having the need to work on a good Mirage 5 kit, I'm coming back on the PJ one.
Little correction work: putty on the junction between wings and fuselage (both sides)
-
In this scale more visible and better access ;)
-
Ooooh yesss...
...And more easy and fun to work on it!
-
I'm speechless, is it going even to be visible ? Can't find the words mate !

Well... If I would'nt have to work so intensively on the Mark one Mirage 5 to obtain an "accepatble" result, perheaps I would not be so precise for the PJ.
But the PJ is a beautiful kit that ask for... Well, let say: "respect" ;-)
-
Cockpit interior is black painted
-
nice progress mate
-
Thank you mate
-
Little progress on the cockpit painting...
-
Paint this details is biiiig progress!

Then canopy is closed and nose in place. Looks like a Mirage 5 now :-love :-love :-love

As well I have seen your kits in real, no doubt that this also look far better in real life ;)
-
Looks excellent !
-
Thank you friends!
Perfect putty was used between the nose and the front of the fuselage. Then the sensors were positionned. The "mouses" received Tamiya Black Panel Liner.
Now I have to remove excess of glue near the canopy...
-

-
Hhhmmm... why just landing gear bay, not entire surface in this primer?
Yes it was a possibility... but the lower surfaces will also be camoflaged in 3 Vietnam tones
-
AK Xtreme Metal day, today:
Exhaust airbrushed with Burnt Metal for the interior and steel for the exterior. And then Aluminium on the wheels, wheel bays, door traps...
Excellent result with those paints.

Beautiful metal effect!

Yes, very good brand for that...
-
Air intakes are in place
-
Precise fit, good work :)
-

-
Today I've put Perfect Plastic Putty on the space between the air intakes and the fuselage; then I've used Tamiya Black Panel Liner on the metal paint.

-

-
Masking putty for other colors?
No; for the Mirage that will be Tamiya masking tape
-
So, as said, Tamiya masking tape generously used :))
Then AK Real Color RC083 Green airbrushed
-
Excellent and pleasant to see how it progress :)
-
Very fun to watch your camouflage!
-
Thank you !
-
After another masking phase, I've airbrushed dark green...
-
Real Color paints are drying very fast; so I've removed the masks after a few minutes only. I'm really happy with the result: only two minor corrections needed...

I don't use GS varnish but AK RC compared To Pebeo : I like Pebeo but I prefer AK

Thanks :)

Thank you my friend
-
Looking wonderful!
-
Thank you Scott!
This morning I finished with decals...
-
Not so much decals if I can see, they set perfect!
-
I find this a good place to ask you all---do you always put on decals in the same sequence, or start in different places on different airplanes? I always start on the bottom, then left or right, then top wing. A silly question, but interesting to me...

Not a silly question Scott, an interresting one indeed!
Habitually I begin with cockades, codes and finish with little ones (servitude, serials...).
But with that Mirage as you can see my method is different. And it's a better one I must say: you bnegin with one side, protect the decals with MicroSol and let dry before to continue... More secure for the good positioning of decals!
-
Amazing mate !
-
Thank you my friend
-
Lower surfaces: Tamiya black Panel Liner applied
-
Upper wings received the panel liner. First photo shows the difference between the left wing (done) and the right one (to be done).
Next step: the fuselage

Two different world wing comparing ;)
