Albatros D.III Oeffag Ba 253 (Roden 1/72)
« on: November 10, 2010, 06:19:54 PM »
Hi friends,

Here is a photo of my Alabtros D.III Oeffag from Roden. I built this kit in 2005 and won several prices with her - The most important being "Best of show" at Charleroi (Belgium), 2006.

Plywood fuselage made with Vallejo Wood + aequous pencil; SWORL and Polish checkers are from Blue Rider. I've also used the photoetc from PART.

Hope you like it...

Great work, mate! :-ok
Swirls look great, although I can imagine problems with BR decals...
The wood is really nice presented, have to try that interesting pencil method instead of oil...
Have one in the stash, but plan to make one from our side, of "Ljubljana company" (also BR decals).

Thank you for the comments!

I agree that Sworl is typically more similar to a 1920 wallpaper than an aircraft camo...

That wood rendering method is quite simple to use, and have a good advantage: as you work with aequous pencil, if not satisfied with the result, you simply applicate a wet finger on the aircraft and the pencil disappear... You can then redo the work...
