Savoia Marchetti SM 79 JIS/JRS B was always for me strange Sparviero, as well for the three engine machines was more common. This is Azure kit I have from 2016., it was intended to be built for magazine but Editor never give me green light to start a build. As well a lot of time pass away, and build as review is now obsolete, I decide to make it for my self. Its look like so simple kit, not so many parts and few resin parts. Not sure did I ever before build anything from Azur, so this will be nice to know better about its parts quality. No idea about the accuracy of the kit and have no options to check it out.
-
interesting subject, looks like a complex kit, looking forward to see it done !
-
Only glass look complex and I will not bother with kit at all, strait from box build :))
-
The molds form Azure/Frrom are made by Special Hobby. Azure/Frrom is French. The kits are following the same progress than Special Hobby kits; so the first Azure are pleasant short runs but the last realisations are GREAT short runs !

Thank you for explanation, information's are worth to be known. Here I cement almost all elements inside and next to do will be painting. Instruction repeat old mistake where is for interior color suggested pale green (if I am correct, Verde Anticorosione) but this paint was used as base and over this was applied medium grey color. So I will paint it like that. No idea how accurate is this color inside S.M. 79 preserved in museum, but it show how this have to look like.
-
All subassemblies are included inside and all painted in uniform grey color. I choose this color on photos, which is lighter then have to be but as well cockpit is so closed, not much light inside, it would look better in darker surrounding.
-
Good work, mate!

Thank you so much :) To regret, not any specific photos of Romanian version which I do in moment, so as reference I use Italian three engine cockpit photos, in hope to manage anything of info about interior paints. As can be seen oh photos, pilot instrument color is two color, central is black, outside panels are dark grey, pilot stick metal color, handles black. Most of the rest panels as well equipment is in black color. Basic interior is medium grey but here is also seen light green, with options that frame tubes are very light grey. Rear bottom section of the fuselage, in area of rear gunner, is in some kind of buff color. Pilot seat can be covered by red brown wood or field green fabric. Area of corrugated surface look like to be wooden color, medium brown, with light brown stripes. Hope this will helps if anyone of you decide to build this kit.

Nice progress and excellent documentation!

Thank you :)) little step forward on this subject ;)

Here is situation in the moment- fuselage is joined without any difficulties and half's fit perfect. Note that it does not include any kind of pins and holes, but need to be adjusted by hands. Join area is in first moment just roughly sanded and later, when I add wings, tail surfaces and cockpit elements, will add some filler and sand it all over with fine sanding paper. Nose is consist from two half's and as well windows frames are so tiny, need maximum attention with cement use. Wings are not complicated, few plates at inner side of top wing surfaces and then all merged together.
Extra work need to fit wings of fuselage. Problem is that wing sleeve is not good and when push wing into that position, you have negative dihedral on wings. Top wing surface on SM 79 series need to be 0 degrees and to achieve that, much of the wing sleeve's need to be sanded, maybe even one mm each side. Final problem which appeared is that surfaces did not match (wing and fuselage bottom), so I need one clamp to make it in level and hold it till cement harden.

Excellent work my friend!
-
:-razz

This is situation in the moment and must stop for a while as well I have no cement anymore... need to make order...
-
Looks very nice mate !
-
:-ok
-
Thanks :))
-
Back to project, now have more time :)) engine glued as well front transparent cover. On one place cement exceed a bit, result of my temporary lost model ability :-smey
-
Welcome back!
Did you have ever received my invoice?
-
No, nothing happen
-
Engine cooler fit to engine. Obvious is very bad match of engine cowling to engine nacelle, I choose option to fit perfect at top and rest will shape with sand stick and filler.
-
Propellers and wheels assembled
-
Nice progress !
-
Hahaha... you know me, can be faster but... ;)
-
Landing gear is add but not door, they will be placed at the very end (as well need to do some dry brush over landing gear. Cockpit is also masked, some minor details need to be correct and it is on its place now. Small details remain to put on kit but before that need to do some engraving and final surface finish.
-
Looks nice !
-
No, nothing happen
What a pitty with international invoices...
-
Anyway, excellent progress on the kit!
-
:(
-
Some engravings were done and add some windows. Few more details to fit to kit and it can go to painting :)
-
Nice progress
-
Thanks mate :))
-
:-ok
-
:))
-
Painting started and this is the moment when I realize that all smooth sanding and filler did not make fuselage join line invisible :-( will let it as is...
-
Try with a drop of cyano, let dry, then sand it...
-
Thanks :)
-
Painting somehow started, sorry I did not managed to do more photos :(
-
Looks great ! :-ok
-
Looks excellent !
-
Thanks!! Tomorrow continue ;)
-
Entire kit is painted. Painting instruction is far from reliable but I have no other options but to use them. Archive photos did not bring any additional info, just on visible segments that they differ from proposed pattern. Also, yellows on wings are also on top surface, not only at bottom. Never mind, I feel absolute relaxed during the work, did not bother at all. So the next is clear varnish and decals.
-
Well done ;-)
-
Thanks mate :-ok decals done, and that was easy, just few of them.
-
Love her! :-love

For a many of last days I had problems with bad function or hard to function properly with my Aztec. Then I dismantle it and find problems, some paint leak inside and this cause improper function of the airbrush. Clean up did not solve problem, real problem is in metal pin, not visible in photo, who protrude outside and is covered by metal cone. It stuck. So real solution was to cover with cap both of the holes for paint jar and then pour from above some acetone. After few minutes it clear up all stuck elements and I put back my spray head (on photo). Now I can back to project.
-
Sorry you had this bad luck with your AB, the model looks fine
-
I solve it somehow but it is matter of time when it will start again with problems...
-
This is complete somehow... :))
-
looks excellent mate !
-
:)) :)) :))
-
Very nice result! :-ok
-
Thanks mate :)
