Kovozavody Prostejov is back, and nicely!
The Avia S-199 is from the same concept than the declinaison of the Messerschmitt Bf109G from AZ Models. The S-199 is also declined in two boxes: one for Czech aircrafts, the second one for Israeli aircrafts. It's the last I will build.
Parts are very fine; plastic is just a little bit ruguous but a sanding phase will fix that...
-
Parts are removed from sprue, and the deco for my kit is choosen: that will be the aircraft piloted by Bill Pommerantz.
-
RLM02 is airbrushed
-
Eduard masks are used for the canopy
-
...And little details and tyres are painted
-
Nice new project mate! :-ok :-ok
-
so far, so good !
-
This kit look very good, new technology advance is obvious. Wish you pleasure build :-ok
-
Hi,
Very good project.
Jicehem :-wave
-
OK, back on the Avia.
First a French mate said me that the cockpit interior was not RLM02 but RLM66 (end of war aircrafts). So I've airbrushed RLM66 on the RLM02; re-painted details and applied the decals for the instrument panel (very good) and the seatbelts (excellent!)
Then I've airbrushed Pébéo gloss varnish.
Propeller was painted with a mix of black and dark gray and the propeller bosse in red.
-
Good details, it i very descent kit :-ok

Good details, it i very descent kit :-ok
Yes, the kit is really good!
-
After having made an oil wash this morning, I've airbrushed Pébéo matt varnish, used pastels then assembled the cockpit interior.
The fitting seemed good but assembly of the half fuselages was not so easy... I had to use cyano glue to fix the problem of space between the half fuselages.
There was also fitting problems with the wings, but fuselage and wings problems are not irrecuperables.
More annoying is poor fitting of the tail and of the canopy. I have to think how I can resolve that... :-think
-
Few coats of liquid filler, one of regular filler and sand, sand, sand... engrave...
-
Exactly... ;)
-
This is very nice!
I also tend to agree with 66 for the cockpit.
-
Thank you Scott!
-
Correction done.
I have removed the tail; sanded the prominence and glued the tail in place again. Good result but of course I will have to use putty :-green
I've used the part of a needle to reinforce the fixation of the tail, as you can see on the second photo...
Exhausts are painted in rust.
-
Begin of the work with miliput
-
That hard...
-
Oh no, not so terrible you know... ;)
-
Not terrible, I did not mean that. Hard action to make it perfect... my Serbian English :(
-
No problem my friend. My Belgian English is sometimes full of surprises too... ;)
-
So is my "English" English!! Where I live, the locals speak with a variety of Southern accents and have certain words that don't really exist. Ellen and I have the "neutral" Midwest U.S. way of speaking and it's easy to see we didn't grow up where we live!
This machine is coming along nicely, a far cry from the very basic 1/72 S-199 that was offered in the 1970s.
-
OK, back to the Avia: sanding, again putty and some parts are glued in place
-
I guess you win :))
-
:)
well, hope so... ;)
-
Little progress.
Kit is ready for primer
-
Good progress!!!!
I have found an article in a very old Scale Modeler magazine that I will post photos of here later......
-
Look good but primer will tell all ;)
-
One thing is boring me, it's the circled antenna... Too thick. I will probably try to correct that...
-
Here is an article from the February 1978 Scale Modeler magazine I have had all these years, describing the "new" KP 1/72 Avia. So much has changed from 1978 to the present day!!!!!

Interresting article Scott, really: "120.T" is the aircraft I'm building!
I have airbrushed primer and than a mix of 4 parts of RLM02 + 1 part of white. Unfortunately artificial light gives not justice to the paint...
And as you can see, I've replaced the rounded antenna by copper wire: looks from far better!
-
Good work on kit, it look very good!!!
-
Thank you my friend!
See here the comparrison, for the antenna, between the plastic part and the copper one I made...
-
Good looking loop antenna, mate!
-
Yhank you Scott!
Well, micro-painting session. Looking at the photos, I realise I've forgotten to paint the machineguns... :-red Will be fixed quickly :))
-
Decals setting was made in two phases: first the wings, then MicroSol and let dry; then the fuselage, MicroSol and let dry again
-
Excellent job mate! :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
This one look wonderful!!
-
Great!
-
Thank you! :)
-
great !
-
Thank you! ;)
-
FINISHED!!!
I've used Citadel Shade "Nuln Oil" in place to make an oil wash. I'm fully satisfied with the shade :-love
Easy to use; you just take a fine paintbrush (I used a 3/0 one) and you fill the interpanels lines; using a humid Q-tip to erase when you make mistake (Q-tip to use immediately, shade is drying fast)
Then I used Tamiya "Green" pastel
Finally I glued the little parts and removed the Eduard masks
...And that's it!
Kovozavody Prostejov produced an excellent kit that ask just for a little of work to become a jewel...
For the photos, I placed the kit on a base from Frédéric Mertès.
-
Beautiful!!
-
I know you will make it perfect!!!
-
Thank you friends! ;)
-
Love it draken,I really love it...I have the mezek in 1/48 by hobbycraft plus aires' detail kit and I am planning to leave engine pannels opened, following your painting scheme.Well done my friend.
