Title: Airfix P-40 1/72
Post by: No.1 on May 11, 2012, 11:09:09 AM
Greetings all,

I start this morning new build for review. First impression of the new Airfix kit is great, parts are match very precisely and my primary interest is to build it with Eduard set. One of important steps you see on images are trim of the surface and plastic, very important to make space for the etched parts. Also I spray metal parts in green.

 :-clap

This looks really nice, and they got the curved shape of the cockpit "floor" just right. This looks every bit as nice as the 1/48 Bf-109E that I like so much!

Excellent work my friend; the PE gives a better value to the kit that sounds very nice; from far better than their 109G...

Vallejo is nice paint, but very fragile. Best way to do is to airbrush gloss varnish after the first paint to protect it; then to airbrush the 2nd paint and if a third one is needed, to aibrush gloss varnish again before apply the third paint...

Same problem with MisterKit paints...

I know that but I try to avoid to much of coat.... my mistake :(

Problem solved and most areas painted
Title: Re: Airfix P-40 1/72
Post by: No.1 on October 18, 2012, 05:14:45 PM
... so I painted bottom, removed mask, store it away and by accident push it. Kit drop on floor and result is here... some force simply don't give me to complete this kit  :-wall

Correcting broken parts are over, add parts which was note there is also completed. Final work in this stage is spray of the flat varnish. To regret this kit will be far from what it could be. At least I will give some effort to make it descent...

Even with the problems that have beset you, this still looks great!

While we're talking about AVG airplanes, does anyone know where I can get some 1/48 scale "3" and "5" numerals in the peculiar style of the AVG? Ellen and I once met Bob Layher, a section leader in the 2nd Pursuit, and he flew ship number 53. I'd dearly like to build his Tomahawk some day.

Lets hunt for the 53 :)) Or... I have problems with decals and I think last days to return to some model basic. During the mid '90 I make templates and spray Yugoslav markings, maybe something like that could be made for your machine?
