Dear friends,
here you are new kit build which would be definitely great pleasure for me to built- this is well known Vought F-8 Crusader, fighter aircraft much loved buy its crew and machine which make its glory during the Vietnam war. Kit you see I will build is Academy kit, which is top rated in the model world. My special thanks goes to Jana Sulcova from Eduard and Gustav Jung from Wolfpack-Design, for their support to this build. Eduard has provided etched parts and quick mask and Wolfpack provided folded wings for this kit.
To be continued...
-
Looks great :)
-
I will follow carefully that build...
-
I'm a fan of the Crusader, too! This looks like a great kit--is the intake ducting/nose gear well part of the Academy kit or an aftermarket part?
A fellow I used to work with was the crew chief on an F-8 in VF-24, the last U.S.Navy Squadron to fly the Crusader in the fighter role. He really liked maintaining the airplane with the exception of the hydraulic systems. He said if it wasn't leaking there wasn't any fluid in the system.....
-
Wow!Seat is so detaild!! :-eek :-eek
I will follow carefully that build...
I'm in complete agreement with you. :)) Hardly wait to see more!!!
-
To regret... I have 'ping' action today and from my tweezer was launched final part for the ejection seat, ejection handles which is mounted on the top of the seat. So this will be subject of intensive search in following hours, days, weeks... :-kr :-dal :-wall :-evil
-
Always bothering...
-
CARPET MONSTER STRIKES AGAIN!!!!!! :-wch
-
It seems we modellers are always surrounded by Quantum Black Holes!
It is the only explanation why small parts that fall out of our fingers on the floor disappear mysteriously///
-
... and part is find just on place where was looking for few times before. When I have finally give up, I go to lunch, then drink coffee and brandy with my neighbor and when I have back, I get again to make try and part is founded...
So here you are progress :-flo
-
Threatens to become a very quick job. :-jump
I like your progress much!Great model, and great work!
When I have finally give up, I go to lunch, then drink coffee and brandy with my neighbor and when I have back, I get again to make try and part is founded...
Persistence pays off. :-flo
-
Busy looking build :-clap - although I don't like the last gunfighter I'm following closely :-paper
-
Thank you :))
-
Excellent work, and nice victory against the carpet monster!
It's the best way to go in such a case: to stop, to go to do other things, that to come back... In the most of the case, problem is resolved...
-
I guess this is the way to do, little head off and things come down later
-
Little work on wings as well landing gear
-
nice progress Friend, looking forward for more
cheers
-
Thank you! I will make progress tomorrow but also will arrange some historic images on this forum.
-
Beautiful,as always! :-clap
-
Thank you :) Here you are more images. I have small accident so I have to remove seat and side panel, see on first image. On the same image you could note filler over all panel lines. Rest show work on wing root box as well landing gear.
:-wave
-
Nice!
-
Great work! :-clap :-clap
What problem with cockpit do you have? :-bat
I like level of details on this kit!I can't wait to see all those details in box of landing gear painted! :-jump :-flo
-
Kit slip from hands and part was ejected out... but nothing serious :))
-
Well,it means that ejection seat works well! :))
-
Almost perfect!
-
Little progress from my side- I add belly parts as well cut rear side of engine for placing some etched parts.
-
Nice progress :-ok
-
Well... from my point of view it should be painted by now :(
-
Most progress focus on engine
-
Great!
-
Start painting, first bottom and parts in white and then black nose...
-
Nice progress!
-
Thank you :)) Maybe I will add few details tonight ;)
-
Looking nice. They did a pretty good job on the upper fuselage bay under the wing. I've built the old 1/48 Monogram kit a couple of times but never got around to scratchbuilding the structure under there.
-
I understand you completely as well there is everything under the wing :-eek :-dal
-
My buddy who worked on the F-8 said the hydraulic actuator that raises and lowers the wing was one of the worst things on the airplane as far as maintenance. ALWAYS leaking hydraulic fluid! He said that when you disconnected the actuator to change it you had to support the wing or the tips would keep going down until you damaged something.
-
Looks good!! :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you for compliments and additional info ;) Here you are more progress, painting made some 20 minutes ago. Note that I paint first black area around the cockpit as well black will stay visible inside and this is frame base interior color...
-
Nice :-flo
-
Yes, I like it too!
-
Thank you for kind words :-razz Well- I change my minds and decide to do another machine and will use decals from Italeri kit. So I have to paint some things in different way. Sample machine I am going to work is F-8E, BuNo 150909, from VF-194, NM400, April 1966.
-
I like this machine! :-love Is this gray and white combination,or...some NMF? :-think
-
Nothing natural metal, just white and grey, only natural metal is the tail cone and plate under the horizontal. Here you are image of the slats mounted, my protection tape has gone so I have to go to buy new and paint flaps white and slats will be grey, not white. Spot on wing is my damage, cement spot.
-
Ok :-ok
-
White area is completely painted. More or less I have to do all small parts fitting and to prepare it for decals.
-
:-ok
-
Natural metal parts
-
Very nice!
-
I hope it will get in following 24 hours gloss coat and to start decals work.
-
Well,it is technique that i have to learn! :-roll
I like your finale result of NMF on exhaust! :-flo
-
It looks really nice :)
-
I try to make it gloss for decals but not easy for a moment... :(
-
I did not work on decals at all so I did some other things- mount wheels and cement wings in folded position. When it dry completely, I will start work on decals.
-
Ohoho...Is so beautiful!!!I like it much!I can't wait to see more!!! :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-clap :-obey :-obey
-

-
Today afternoon work on Skyraider drawings so... no work today on this. Maybe tomorrow.
