Continuing with the Mirage family after having finished the Mirage 5 BA, I begin the build of two other aircrafts: a Mirage 5 BR (recce version) and a Mirage 5 BD (biplace version).
Both kits are from PJ Productions; the mirage 5 BR is the same box than the BA (both version can be build with that kit).
First photos: BR version. Having the experience of the kit, build is more rapid; I will waste less time into phases of putty/sanding. I will use the subsonic fuel tanks (that are really bigger than the supersonic ones), and I'm waiting for a decal sheet from DACO to add some "zappings".
the aircraft will also be a post-80 aircraft, with Martin Baker MK10 seat and the tail in resin.
To be noted that the transparent resin nose is a little too large; it was in fact conceived for the resin kit from PJ. Not too dramatic anyway...

..And now photos of the Mirage 5 BD, that is the biplace version used to form the student pilots.
That time the tail is the one in plastic. Some surgery needed (tail, cockpit) and some putty will be needed too, but no big problem actually...
Just to say that the carpet monster defeated me today: the TACAN antenna in photoetch was lost and eaten by the monster; so I decided to use the plastic part... That was also lost and eaten! So, I made one in evergreen... phew!

The carpet monster is working at my shop too...... :-wch
Great projects, mate!! :-jump
-
Ooooo- this will be great to watch!!!
-
Thank you! ;)

Little progress on the Mirage 5 BD.
I have received two decal sheets from DACO for my Mirages. I will surely build the BR-21; not decided yet which BD will be built...
-
Nice projects mate! :)
-
Thank you mate!
-
Topic not dead!!!
Some work on the Mirage 5 BD, consisting of miliput and putty
-
...And same for the 5 BR :-green
-
Glass nose!!! Great idea for recce windows ;)
-
this will be nice, go on mate !
-
I've begun to sand the miliput on the 5BR. Working slowly, to be precise and very careful not to damage the engraving...
-
Hope it will be well balanced, nose look a bit weight over

Yes and problem with that resin nose is that you cannot add weight...
-
The resin must be quite heavy though?

Not really, but of course a little bit more than a "normal" nose...
-
Mirage 5BR is sanded...
-
...And work has begun for the BD
-
Such a beautiful form for an aircraft--the Delta wing is just wonderful!

Yes, Mirage III/5 are my preferred ones.
Must say that if I haven't had problems with eyes when aged of 17, I would have tried to become pilot and would have flown the Mirage 5...
-
Sanding of the upper surfaces of the 5BD done. Now it remains to sand the undersurfaces of the wings...
-
...Undersurfaces sanded :))
-
:-ok
-
thank you Scott!
-
Closing to paint shop :)) :-ok
-
Yes, I hope...
-
I'm back with that long-awaiting project...
Work on the Mirage 5BD: the tail suffered of a lack of plastic (the little triangle in front of the larger part of the tail was not large enough) so I've used miliput to correct that problem...
...Well, I've also modified the name of that topic: "2015 year of the Mirage 5" was... well... :-red :-red :-red :-red :-red
-
You are back with this one :)) :-ok

Well, I really hope to finish both in 2017...

Nice to see these come back to the spotlight! (Now if I could only find a way into my project area......)

Welcome back !
