My desk is not as full as it usually is so I'll add this new project.......I've never built a HobbyBoss kit before so this is a new experience for me. This was on sale at the mail-order shop I frequent and so I decided to try it. So far, the level of detail and quality of engraving is quite nice!

The fit looks quite acceptable also--here are the main parts taped together for a test-fit:

This is nice looking machine and I guess easy build :)
-
Yes, I think this will be a very easy, relaxing project. This kit isn't as complex (no open wing and fuselage gun bays, for example) as the Eduard Dora yet the detail is adequate for a shelf model. One area of concern with this model is that the propeller blades don't have quite enough chord width. I have a spare Eduard wide-chord prop and will substitute it here.
My intention was to incorporate the Eduard PE wooden flap set you sent me for review but the HobbyBoss design would make that very difficult.
-
I did not know that this model have wooden flaps, interesting ;)
-
I think all the very last versions of Fw 190 might have had the wooden flaps but I'm not exactly certain. I've seen photos of a Dora that has them and I suppose the Ta 152 probably used "off-the-shelf" subassemblies also.
-
All right, give a try :)
-
Some subassemblies are now assembled and painted in either RLM 02 or 66 and the engine portion in black:

The fit of all these parts is really excellent and this kit is a snap to build! :-ok
-
As i can see, this kit is very nice! :-clap
And your progress also! :-clap :-flo
-
Kit look good and I hope in best final result :))
-
Slow progress on this one. Finally the majority of the parts are assembled and a tiny bit of filler was applied to the fuselage seams. As I said earlier, the fit of this is really beautiful. This is even more relaxing to build than the Eduard Hellcat is!

Then the first paint was applied after masking off the area that will be bare aluminum:

Hi mates, :-salut
Very nice looking.
One detail : I think that for a Ta 152 C-1 (standard produced !) the spinner is not good. Those with the hole where for prototypes only...
Cheers,
Jicehem :-wave
-
Thanks Jicehem--I'll fill the center opening. I am using a spares box Eduard propeller and spinner but didn't even think of this detail!
-
Okay, top surface colors are now applied and I'll paint the NMF segments of the lower wing when this is cured:

Very clean ;)

Hi mate, :-salut
What will be the markings ? Because no operationnal Ta 152 C-1 is known...
Jicehem :-wave
-
The kit provides V-6 decals for VH+EY so that's the markings I'll use. (I'm personally not that fond of "what-if" markings.)
-
I asked this question because, in this case the spinner has the hole. But it's difficult to say it's a Ta 152 C-1... even if it was built to C-1 standards.
I thought you wanted to build a "what if" because it has been said that a unique Ta 152 C-1 reached Stab./JG 301. It seems that, actually, that was a Ta 152 E (Ta 152 H with short wings).
I hope that you have not already filled the spinner's hole.

Good job mate! :-clap :-ok

No problem, these late-war machines are so interesting! I've seen the research pertaining to the E that was thought to be a C also.

Here are a few photos of the finished Ta 152C (V-6) that represented the production standard C-1. The markings are those it wore after being completed and I've finished it as it would have looked after its first flight. The airplane and decals are all straight from the HobbyBoss box with only sprue added for the antenna wire:

I really enjoyed this build and the ease of construction. Very relaxing!

Nice work mate :)

Hi mate, :-salut
It's really beautiful. Bravo !
I feel that i'll buy one... although I have no more place for 1/48 scale kits... But it looks so better than the one of Trimaster, the wings of which are wrong...

Jicehem,
I really do recommend this kit for a couple of reasons: 1. The parts fit so nicely that almost no filler is needed. 2. It is simply a relaxing, trouble-free build. In addition, though I didn't really mention it, there is a small PE fret in this kit with the aft cockpit decking, seatbelt harness and Morane antenna.
There are a couple of drawbacks, though: 1. The propeller doesn't have sufficient chord in my view (that's why I substituted my spare Eduard prop). 2. Even though HobbyBoss provides the rear accessory section of the engine that is visible through the open wheelwells, they do not add any of the structure or bulkheads that are also visible up there as Eduard has done. In my case, since this will be on display at my home only, I simply painted the empty areas flat black.
To me, the good far outweighs these couple of omissions. I've now had experience building the Trimaster/Revell D-11, Eduard D-9 and this kit and I actually prefer the HobbyBoss for ease of build, Eduard for the added details in gun bays and wheelwell and the Trimaster comes in third.

I like your conclusion, this would be nice guide for many :-clap :-ok
